But what many of us may not have realsed was that this was Yaesu's first HF Transceiver that was fully SDR all the way through the RF chain. Hi thanks for the video. I have had my 710 for 3 days and waiting for the mic adapter to get here. I had almost decided to send the radio back to HRO. When using the amp I had so much RFI, more than any radio I have ever had.. I made all new coax. Made p a ne heavy shielded keying cable. I went though every thing I could do to get it out. Take in concelebration I have been a ham for 40 years and this little guy almost mad me give up. I started from scratch. It turned out to be the little speaker. WOW. What a ordeal. I really love the receiver on the radio. Keep up the good work on your videos. Yours has been the best I have found. 73 W5DN

Had mine for a couple of months now, fantastic bit of kit, love it, out performs everything else I own. I know some people dislike the Yaesu menu system but I have found it very easy and intuitive to use.

Having a mouse hooked up and an external monitor is a game changer. You no longer need to use the touch screen on the radio. The right button brings up the menu. The right button is used to go back. I'm using a 10-inch VGA monitor. it's great and a great radio.

Only thing I would comment on is your mentioning that you got good comments on the audio; you have such a nice sounding and peaceful voice that you could make the worst radio and mic combination sound superb! Love listening to your videos!!

I especially liked the trscking noise filter on the IC718 and that it would nullify more than one interfering heterodyne. I had not yet found the DNF feature on the 710 so thanks again Peter for pointing this out.

I moved recently to a new location and won't be able to get my station set up until good ant building weather comes back in 2 or 3 months. Still recovering from amputation surgery also complicates matters. Watching Peter's videos helps pass the time and learn more about the hobby. Thanks again.

Great review and insights into the misunderstood 710. I am an ex big Icom then Flex guy. Friend bought a FTDX10 and it blew me away with its receiver and DNR etc. So much so I bought a FTDX101MP and then quickly sold my Flex 6400M. Pure joy to operate and the receiver and noise/Interference filtering stellar. Well, I bought a 710 for field work. I have to say this is the best value for your money in a HF rig there is and I can’t figure out how they did this in such a small package.

Nice presentation Peter. BTW You can select 15 different noise-reduction algorithms. Hold the DNR button and turn the function to select a different level. Thanks again 73.

Great little rigs these, nice and easy to use and half the current draw of the DX10 on RX. Field rig makes lots of sense for portable.

Something not in the video, being able to see exactly where the source of noise is using the "multi" screen, and then scroll the "notch" over that noise is really awesome.
