중국, 오늘 18기 6중전회 폐막… 반부패 조치 제도화되나
The Chinese Communisty Party wrapped up its four-day session of 6th plenum meeting on Thursday.
The key was to establish a strict party governance mainly through institutionalizing anti-corruption drive.
Oh Jung-hee zooms in on the gathering of some of the biggest names from the Asian giant.
The Chinese Communist Party's sixth plenary session, attended by almost 400 political leaders, came to a close on Thursday after four days.
As outlined by Chinese President Xi Jinping through a televised speech last Friday,... the key goal of the gathering was to establish "strict party discipline,"... to prevent the risk of political upheavals and the risks of a slowing economy.
Many observers see President Xi working to institutionalize his anti-corruption campaign -- which, according to the government, has punished over a million officials in less than four years -- especially in light of next year's Party Congress, which will see some leadership changes.

"The main agenda of the sixth plenary session is party self-discipline, including the norms of political life within the party... and revision of intra-party supervision rules, which are deeply related to President Xi's anti-corruption drive."

The specifics of how the anti-corruption drive would be institutionalized have not been unveiled as of yet.
But several Chinese media see this session leading to measures such as financial disclosures by senior officials, restrictions on employing relatives and stronger punishments for corruption.
There's also the possibility that the party's convention of retiring at the age of 67 could be changed... so that Xi can retain certain loyal officials.
