The Impulse Response of Systems

An impulse is has amplitude one at time zero and amplitude zero everywhere else. The output of a system in response to an impulse input is called the impulse response. The impulse response is a very useful way to describe the characteristics of a large and useful class of systems.

Thank you! Finally someone that can clearly describe an impulse response.

This is the most clear video that explains what unit impulse is so far. Better than a ton of other indian videos spending 10 mins trying to explain stuff. any discrete-time signal can be expressed as a weighted sum of shifted impulses.

Very clear and well-paced. Thank you!! Please make more signal processing videos!

Thank you very much sir for the informative video. I am a mechanical engineer trying to learn system identification and estimation and your videos are great. Can you suggest some good books on signal and system estimation? thank you

Consider an at rest linear system described by
y"+25y=2sint+5cos 5t
The response of this system will be
Decaying oscillations in time.
Oscillatory in time.
Growing oscillations in time:
None of the above.

At 1:35 Shouldn't the sum be:
2*S[-1]+1*S[0]+2*[1]+-1*S[2] ???

That's more convinient and easy to understood.

what does it means "weighted sum" ?
