I have a xtreme 4 that I use it my car and it fits the glove compartment perfectly. I was thinking of getting another one for in house but I think I'm going ult 5 instead. To bad it won't fit in the glove compartment

Just got the ULT field 3. Wow. It’s pretty dang good. Now while it’s not as loud as the JBL charge 6. I think it still sounds better. The JBL charge 6 struggles at higher volumes to separate and detail highs. The Sony really held it together up until 90% volume. Like GYMCADDY said, I think JBL is pushing the Charge 6 too much, and I find it to be poor sounding after 70%. I really liked my charge 6, but I think I like this ULT 3 more. So one’s gotta go back, and it’s gonna be the JBL.

I’m listening to the full sound comparison on my TV’s surround system, and before I read the comments or see the sound conclusion, the JBL sounds tinny and weak and the ULT sounds hella better. I own Bose, JBL, Beats, UE, and soundcore speakers, and looks like my next speaker is a Sony.

I’m using a wired speaker setup with a subwoofer. I find JBL’s sound kinda harsh—it’s that typical JBL style, with really bright highs that get tiring after a while. The bass also feels pretty thin, like it blends too much with the highs, so it’s hard to tell the tones apart.Sony’s sound is fuller overall, and the soundstage is wider too. The bass hits have more variation, like you can clearly hear something like “do da ci” with different tones. But JBL, even though the rhythm is the same, it just sounds more like “ci ci ci” all the way—no real difference, kinda flat.

Compared to the sound of the Sony ULT Field 5, the sound of the JBL Extreme 4 sounds like it's coming from a barrel. Maybe because the Extreme 4 is also barrel-shaped. :))

My rule for JBL is the same for Bose: Never buy retail; wait for them to go on sale (they always do) ! I love both speakers, but if you care about keeping your speaker for a long time, the Xtreme 4 wins hands down because of the swappable battery. I wish more manufacturers could do the same for their speakers.

3:30 That is not a valid point at all. So you throw your speaker away because the battery died? It's not hard at all to replace a battery on sonys speakers and on top of that they have a battery care mode for those that are that concerned about battery longevity.
