My grandmother and mother both died of lung cancer. My grandmother’s cause of death was asphyxiation. Her lung cancer had spread so much it had grown into her esophagus. And other parts of the body. (It still hurts to write this.) She was blown off by several Drs after having many of these symptoms. This was in the 1980s. She was not taken seriously when she complained of so many symptoms. Her cancer was discovered on her autopsy.
Moral of the story. You know your body better than anyone. If you have one of the symptoms come up that Dr Hansen spoke of, find a Dr who will believe you and take you seriously.
My mom told me she simply waited too late. She knew something was wrong when she started having shortness of breath going up the stairs and couldn’t climb stairs as well. She was 54.

Three months ago I seemed fine, no clue I had stage IV lung cancer. It started with wheezing and I thought maybe asymptomatic Covid or SRV. Doctor diagnosed COPD and put me on inhaler. Several weeks later and I literally couldn’t breathe. It’s a very aggressive small cell and I’m afraid. Praying for strength and acceptance.

I 've being with short breathing more tham 10 ys. No smoker. And fatigue. I complained a lot with doctors. Always sending me to psychologists to address my anxiety. Then coughing for 2 months and awful pain on my ribs. I demanded x-ray and cat 🐈 scan.
Results: lung cancer. Pet scan plus biopsy. Primary adenocarcinoma lung cancer stage 4A. Now feeling better with chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

My dad died 11 days after being diagnosed with lung cancer and his nails were normal. Had hardly any symptoms until the very end, and wasn't in pain at all. At the very end his voice went very low and on the last day he needed help breathing, but that was it.

I’m a never-smoker who was diagnosed at stage 4 with a type of oncogene-driven lung cancer called ALK+ at the age of 51. My main symptom for the pricing year, was episodes of scapula (shoulder blade) pain that could last a week and then disappear for 3 months. An X-ray of that area 6 weeks before diagnosis found nothing unusual, although by that time I was also starting to exhibit more common lung cancer signs. I was later diagnosed with a Pancoast tumour, which appears at the top of the lung and is hard to detect by X-ray. Fortunately, I am taking a targeted therapy drug, whilst not a cure should give me a near-normal quality of life for several years.

Watching this 2 days before a CT scan. Already suffering from multiple Post Viral issues, but in addition to these, there's now... Weaker voice, random pains, slightly more breathlessness, soreness of throat. Weight loss. Non smoker. 6 years sober. No clubbed fingers (just checked!). 3 years of Long COVID (not a V injury) has absolutely ravaged me. Very important to follow up on new symptoms and not just attribute it to an existing condition. Stay vigilant, peeps.

My Sister had persistent coughing and what doctors thought was pneumonia. She went into surgery to drain fluid from her lungs and a biopsy done during the procedure determined stage IV lung cancer. She never smoked a day in her life and died on Christmas Day 2019.

Thanks Dr. Hansen. I'm a big fan of your videos and appreciate your valuable content. Just another thought on warning signs of cancer that don't involve the lungs. My brother, Mike, had a pain in his back for several months. When he finally went to the doctors (Christmas 2018), they found a mass on his spine that was non-small-cell lung carcinoma that had metastasized. Prior to the pain in his back, he had ZERO symptoms. At 61 he was a never smoker and always kept himself healthy. The mass was removed and he had good luck with Tagrisso and bounced back, taught himself how to walk again and returned to teaching ESL classes. Unfortunately about 15 months after his initial diagnosis, he passed out and fell, striking his head. More tests showed the cancer had spread into his cerebral spinal fluid, and that was pretty much game over - sadly he passed in Dec. 2020 at 63. Just a piece of advice to see a doctor when you are experience sudden onset of pain that becomes persistent, wherever it is.

If you cough up blood and have a dark line going up your thumb nail get a chest X-ray immediately. It happened to me.

There needs to be screening programs, i gave up smoking at 30, at 51 i had a motorcycle accident, suspected internal injuries and the scans found a 3cm Adenocarcinoma and a seperate 6cm Kidney tumour. The only symptom i had was fatigue which i attributed to age and work. Kidney and the affected Lobe were removed and i was extremely lucky to have caught them before Mets spread. There are far too many people diagnosed too late, a screening program would work wonders, once every 5 years perhaps?

My Dad had a cough I noticed it in the mornings. In the spring of 1972 he went to a doctor, they found lung cancer and he passed the end of Aug. He was young at 44, he smoked winstons, he wasnt what I would call a heavy smoker. I remember him telling he took up smoking in the service, I'm guessing he was in his early 20's . Cobalt treatment was done, I remember hearing it was discovered too late. I have a photo of him sitting outside getting some sunshine with his shirt off. The mark for the cobalt treatment was drawn on his chest in grease pencil. I sure miss him.
