I use to work at an intermodal yard. It was the truck drivers responsibility to set the front and back pins. A new driver for JB Hunt flagged me down for a low trailer( dropped by the 18 year old useless kids they hired). I raised the trailer and lowered the landing gear, then stayed to make sure he had no problems. He hooked up, checked his 5th wheel pin, then started hooking up his air lines and electrical. I went over and told him it was his job to check the pins. He told me, he had no idea what I was talking about. This was his first day driving and nobody in his company told him what to check. I showed him the front pins, how to lock the rear pins and to secure them with a zip tie, and then the side latches. Had I not showed him, he would have lost that container. (Fully loaded with household bleach)
