Display DeX on your Laptop or PC using Elgato Capture Card [BETA !!] [ Samsung DeX ]

This is not ideal setup, just as prove that it is possible. Get your PC or laptop to display DeX. I am using Elgato HD60 S game capture device to get DeX video output directed to PC instead of HDMI monitor. As soon as everything is plugged it, my phone thinks that i have connected monitor, so DeX starts.

I just picked up the S10e a couple of days ago and I love it. I bought it for 2 features: DeX and the 600Mhz Band 71 from T-Mobile since the Band 71 went live 3 days ago in my area. (Northeastern California). It seems more logical for most people to use DeX enabled phones rather than a dedicated laptop if all they do is a bit of web surfing, document editing, spreadsheets, etc, plus the internet is already provided by the phone. I plan to live, work and travel in my custom conversion van soon and the new 600Mhz band is going live all over the country (long range 4G LTE) which can reach "hundreds of miles". I have the unlimited data plan and am a software developer. DeX will allow me to work on my projects remotely or even locally in some cases without using my power hungry high-end laptop. Just a low power consumption portable USB-C monitor and a wireless keyboard and the MX Anywhere S2 mouse... i've got quite a nice combo for working with very little power consumption. I love where technology has been going. I just hope I can run Docker within Ubuntu atop DeX, which i've never seen an answer to yet. I guess i'll be the first to see if that works.

If you want a dex laptop please take a look at the hp elite x3 lap dock only works with note 9 and up not note 8

did u know that OneUi on Samsung S8 update is no need for Dex station .. we need only HDMI to usb C adapter to use directly the Dex and we can also use the phone while connected on Dex

It needs a lot of power, tho, so the original Samsung charger isn't enough. I personally use the USB-C charger for my Dell laptop.

Thank you for the reminder of the hdmi adapter for the usb-c. I, too, am trying to figure out how to use my laptop with my DeX. I believe we might need to re fit or purchase a input/output usb port for the laptop, that we can use like a Bi-directional Switch?

Hi, I hope you can help me to understand and connect my Dex Station to my laptop.
I have Note 8, Samsung Dex Station EE-MG950 and also a small adapter similar to the one you have in your video with 2 USB ports, 1 HDMI port, and 1 USB C port to be connected to your phone I guess.


I tried to work it out myself, but after brain surgery, everything is more difficult. If you could please advise step by step, that would be great. I like your idea with the Elgato card, but I don't think spending more money is necessary.
