Mao has been my main for 2 years now with over 400 games only on him. This is the most complex and tacticley equiped support jungler or plane out nuker. You will need a bit of practice for him tho but when you start to understand the logic behind him you will fall in love with him he is still super strong and up to date.

maokai excels at dealing tons of damage while preventing his allies from taking tons of damage from enemy tons of damage dealers.

From vengeful tree revenant to angry old man oak. I miss the old maokai.
Maxed Q for optimized skirmish damage, W second for stickyness, E last for scouting and because E's leveled mana costs were absurd for a spamming ability playstyle. That R would completely turn around teamfights, absorbing damage while becoming a powerful bomb once detonated. Worst case scenario it would zone out enemies - you could get really creative with it.
Philosophers stone into Eleisa's miracle for HP and Mana regen and tenacity, sorc shoes, old trinity force, finish with force of nature and frozen heart/ thornmail. Mixed damage, great sheen procs from one of the game's greatest early base damages and he would even headbutt the enemy with the crit animation from the trinity force. Good times.

Maokai was my first main when I started playing league in 2012. I quit for many years, but recently came back and started one tricking him and just hit plat!

He was the first champion I learned, he's really fun. They don't cover it in this, but you should probably jungle him if you can due to his strong ganks and good sustain in the jungle.

Please fix maokai's ultimate, the damage dealt to enemies upon toggling the ability needs to be scaled up, as it's completely useless even in big team fights

@MeetheCHAMPION his ult isnt useless, it can pretty much decide a teamfight if positioned correctly. it lets you secure contested objectives, such as baron, dragon or towers.
