Lost Technology : Measure High Voltage using Spheres

Показать описание
Learn how to measure the voltage present in any High voltage spark using this outdated, yet sufficient, method! Air's Dielectric breakdown voltage is 3,000,000v/meter, or 30kV/cm. This allows us to use distance, as a tool to measure. It may not be the most exciting subject, but it certainly is useful! If using firefox, I appear severely sunburned...

It works very well. I do prefer voltage dividers. That way I cab use meters or even a scope to see ripple as the current is drawn at different power levels.

Great tip! Would love to see a video of your Tesla coil. The resonant top is smaller than most I have seen.

Thank you for doing this video! And a tesla coil tutorial would be awsome!

I have a few questions :
1) What kind of power supply did you use for the voltage multiplier
2) Were you grounded or you were were just growing static electricity when you were holding the screw driver
3) What is the input frequency of the voltage multiplier
4)how many steps of the multiplier circuit were involved

I got a special probe that reads high voltage you plug into a multimeter. Handle thing but not cheap. Great video Jay.

When you were demonstrating the arc length with the screwdriver and spheres your arm was twitching with each discharge. I was wondering if this is reflexive or was the arc somehow causing a muscle twitch?

You should build a coil gun. Great video
