Thanks! my covid positive patient had this setting simv+ on draeger at fi02 70%, pinsp 28, peep 10, ps 8, resp rate 18 with background of asthma..she was not in synchrony with the vent, etco was around 38-40 and in alkalosis, ph - pc02, hco3 - all high. the intensivist adjusted to aprv but eventually switched back.. patient tolerated simv+ for hours and decreased her to fi02 55% and increased resp rate of 20.

Thanks a lot,
I have a question, is the spont breath during inspiratory phase (in simv+), augmented by PS ?

Hi
I like your videos. Thank you for posting them.
I work with Hamilton C6 P SIMV+ it's the same, I think.
It does not have PS, it has Pinsp which I've been told it switches between PC and PS depends if its vent triggered or patient triggered breaths.
Is it right?
It also has a Sync mode.

This is different than the manual. The manual says that PC-SIMV breaths have an inspiratory cycle that can be triggered sooner but is time cycles with the set Ti. Whereas in PC-SIMV+ it can also cycle the breath off early so you don’t get the full Ti. Is that correct?

great explanation sir, thank you for the video lecture sir, sir in the video you say total cycle time is 6 seconds does that mean inspiration time + expiration time isnt it, but in the video sir you say 6 seconds, 6 seconds give a breath. does that mean whole cycle time is 12 isnt it, sir please correct me if iam wrong . thank you sir .

Awesome video and outstanding explanation. Im a nurse using a philps. trilogy 100. what I was looking for was the difference.between SIMV- VC and SIMV-PC. Do you have a video on this? Thank you for this great video anyhow.

What about for chronic vent patients? I see to many chronic patients on PCV-VG.

This information is not correct as it applies to the Drager v500. Drager allows for spontaneous breathing during all phases of ventilation in any modes. SIMV+ synchronizes the patient's spontaneous breathing during a mandatory breath which may reduce the duration of that mandatory breath. Think of it as expiratory synchronization, not just on the inspiratory side.
