(USA) Galaxy Book Ion Review

Here it is. My review of my favorite laptop in the world, the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15", USA edition.

Head's up: the included 8 GB RAM will not be enough for much more than basic tasks (especially considering how much a memory hog Chrome can be). This is especially important considering there is no dedicated graphics card with its own memory, so that RAM is shared with the Intel UHD graphics. When looking for a (DDR4 only) RAM upgrade, go with one that is 2666 MHz so it matches the speed of the soldered-on DDR4 stick. I saw one YouTuber get a slower module, which is likely not noticeable, but would still artificially slow down their system. The price is the exact same, so why not get the faster one? :)

The fans are very quiet. I hope one day they released an upscale version

I run mainly illustrator and Corel and connect to some large peripherals like plotters, routing and laser engraving machines in my line of work. I'm hoping it'll work well with my Mimaki machines mainly.

Cool review, thanks. I use my 13” for djing with Rekordbox, VirtualDJ and Serato and that baby works great with 8gb of ram. I never get to use half of the ram. I bought the new 2020 MacBook Pro 13, 10th gen and oh my that thing got hot. Did not keep it and ended up getting and keeping this one. It does not feel as sturdy as the MacBooks but it is a great computer. I can see why you are so happy with it. It is a great machine if you decide to dj outside on outdoor mode 600 nits of brightness.

You can simply click on the Fn lock key and then can use the hotkeys without the need of pressing the Fn button each time.

I also have my concerns right now. i want to buy the i5 Model (15) and i need it for Adobe Premiere, FL Studio, Photoshop and for school. I have concerns about whether it will get loud or not be able to perform well enough.

Try using esc+ Fn to unlock the keys so you won't need fn+ which ever other key to use for volume brightness etc

Are the speakers too quiet? I'm coming from Pixelbook Go which are some of he best on any laptop. That would be the only thing I'd be concerned about

Does anybody know what is causing burn-in ghosting at the edges of display even in matter of minutes in Samsung Galaxy Book Ion np950xcj? QLED is supposed to be resistant to burn in. Display edges also suffer from purple tint. Can it get worse over years of use and is it expensive to fix?

You could just click fn lock it should be after f12
