The facial expressions of distress Daniel puts into this scene is extraordinary acting

I love that she uses the stirring as a focal point, because it's the perfect camouflage. There's nothing weird about stirring your tea, in fact it's expected. You can also talk while you're doing it, to misdirect the target. They're literally talking about focal points when she first starts stirring, and he still doesn't notice. By the time it's clear what she's really doing, it's too late. And because it's auditory, you can't block it by just closing your eyes.

It’s crazy how she literally was doing the “pocket watch” thing right in his face but with the teacup

When he says "wait wait wait wait" it signifies that he's not within the correct mindset for hypnosis. He's actively rejecting the process, which stops any form of hypnosis usually

I love the shaky "mm- mhm" he gives in response to hearing the rain. He can tell something bad is happening and it makes him nervous, but he already is losing control.

Am I the only who thinks that missy could legit be a good ass therapist like honestly if she didn’t have such malevolent intentions with hypnosis she’d be an amazing hypnotherapist

I think that Catherine Keener should’ve got a best supporting actress Oscar nomination for this film, she plays the part so effectively.

I'm glad I didn't see this in the theater. Watching this scene on a big screen with those huge speakers enhancing the sound may have put everyone in the sunken place. 😱

At 1:58 is when Missy knows that she's found the exact trigger to manipulate Chris. Her smile is so sly.

This scene right here was when I realized originality in film was not dead

The teacup that Missy possess and uses her teaspoon to spin it around is what they say is supposed to create a hypnotic rhythm? It screeches.

This is basically how sleep paralysis feels like.
Edit: For anyone who suffers try to keep your eyes closed and don’t fight it. Remember it’ll always pass. That’s how I try to deal with it.

If you look at it, that's pretty much extremely terrifying; when you're powerless and no one hears you cry or scream for help as you're trapped in... nothingness.

Such a good scene. Totally unexpected, and extremely harrowing when Chris is gradually made vulnerable. Very well done for a horror movie.

4:32 this will be a great start for a new official music video. Anyone agree?

Best scene in the movie. No question. Astounding acting from both of them. Why this movie didn’t receive more acclaim is baffling to me.

1:58
It's creepy he don't want to think about old memories but how he kept telling and remembering that...even though he didn't want to

Seen this movie twice and both times, while uncomfortable, didn’t affected me that badly. Then I watched it today, and I felt super anxious… even felt like crying how uncomfortable I was. Great writing!
