For real tho, the Max Payne movie lacked the amount of inner dialogue that made the video game so special. Max's thoughts and reflections were an integral part of the game, providing depth and insight into his character and the world around him. Without this inner dialogue, the movie fell short in capturing the essence of Max Payne. It was like they had stripped away a layer of his character, leaving nothing but a superficial shell. The movie could have been so much more if they had stayed true to the game's spirit, and included more of Max's inner thoughts and reflections. It's a missed opportunity that fans of the game will always lament.

I am 32 years old and I remember playing the Max Payne games but I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing all this shit about demons and supernatural shit in the games... am I wrong?

There is no bigger Max Payne nut than I. Back in the day I played 1 and 2 religiously, diving into studies, making ofs etc. When I saw the trailer hit TV and the Valkyrie appeared I knew immediately what the movie was, and it was one of the only movie releases I was actually excited for. It still is the best video game adaptation with studio change demand. True we only got about 60% of the original script, but in comparison to the abomination of the 2007s Hitman, Max Payne still remains the best adaptation. It captured everything about the game, atmosphere, mythology, everything. Few years later I became 21 and went out and bought a Beretta 92. I still wear it proudly in a shoulder rig to this day. Great movie to gamings most perfect trilogy.

The demons were portrayed as inner demons a person had after taking certain narcotics. People would off themselves thinking it was demons but really they were taking their own life. When Max Payne was surrounded by these demons (in the trailer) he was, I believe, fighting his inner demons. His loss of his wife and the downwards spiral. This movie has some really deep meaning to this film. It’s a crappy movie but I can see what it was going for.

For me, the trailer is a 10/10.


The movie is not bad, is entertaining, we need to understand that this is an adaptation to the videogame, so this is why the history changes... the demons and all that stuff is because of the drugs.


Maybe if the movie was called with another name, the people would like it.

I remember watching this movie in the theatres and when Ludacris popped up on the screen announcing that he was an NYPD detective, the entire theatre burst out in laughter. Yeah, this one was pretty awful.

Actually liked this movie quiet a bit. Some really awesome action sequences and visuals. Also very atmospheric. It was like Constantine’s cousin but less humor and a little darker and more realistic.

I'd be fine with a remake of this starring Mark again or anyone but the movie would need to be a 2 part movie. The whole max payne 1 story is more than standard movie length!
