New Zealand Could Block Post Brexit Britain's Entry To Pacific Trading Bloc!

The Prime Minister of New Zealand has published a document on her government's website saying that international law must be respected when it comes to the criteria for new candidates. Could the recent statements by the Northern Ireland Secretary of State for Northern Ireland harm the UK's chances of joining the pacific trading bloc?

New Zealand remembers when we were thrown under the bus when the UK joined the EEC in 1973. It was economically devastating.

This is total insanity to join a trading bloc on the other side of the planet .

From Australia. What has England got that we wan't that we don't already have. The CTPPT has plenty of stuff you want and all we say is we can enter the Britain without a visa. There are more of us and we have the stuff. This would be another Australian trade deal disaster on a massive scale. The EU is fine because we all sell stuff to each other and free trade will not be a problem for either of us. Australia is negotiating with the EU and has been for a couple of years to benefit both of us. Britain is desperate and will sign any bloody thing and all of the treaty countries will screw you over like we did.

Given that in 1969 NZ was facing serious economic collaspe when the UK decided to join the EEC, as its economy was 100% geared to supplying the UK market with, wool, meat and butter, it would be sweet justice for NZ to return the favour. NZ survived with much pain, but it took until the mid 1980s to remove the agrarian socialist Nationalist government and modernise it's economy under NZ Labour.

Why would they even be interested in having the UK join?
A. The UK is very far away and does little trade with them.
B. Theyve seen, how the UK has behaved, both as a member of the EU and as leaver.
C. Boris et al have been talking trash about the Kiwis and their country in general and their PM specifically continually - while needing their approval for the CPTPP. If they behave like this while trying to join, just how bad would they be as member??

I have a lot of respect for Jacinda Ardern and I'm sure she will advocate for what's right. If the New Zealand govt say they will uphold international law then they will. D'Piffel should stop making enemies of everyone if he wants cooperation.
