Interesting how studying and teaching sent you on the route to Christianity. It takes a lot of study and soul searching to understand Christianity or most religious faiths. It's pretty much a life journey of discovery.

Randomly coming across the CATHOLICISM documentary on TV in the middle of the night over a decade ago started me on a path back to the Church and truly embracing the Faith. That's the short version of my story.

If I were the man I was 10 years ago, I'd take a flamethrower to half these comments!!!!

I'm puzzled by how many Christians confuse the question "Why you are a Christian?" with the question "What was your path to become a Christian?". You see... answering the 1st would require presenting some form of justification for why you believe God sacrifice himself to himself to save us from himself because of a rule he made himself. Any justification whatsoever, however wrong that may be. Answering the 2nd is what the bishop does here...

EDIT: in the debate, Bishop was asked about the path, not about why. So his answer is OK with regards to the question actually asked. Why the wrong, deceiving title?

“Vatican II clearly teaches that someone outside the explicit Christian faith can be saved. Now they’re saved through the grace of Christ indirectly received. So the grace is coming from Christ but it might be received according to your conscience. So if you’re following your conscience sincerely, or in your case following the commandments of the law sincerely, yeah you can be saved. Now that doesn’t conduce to a complete relativism. We still would say the privileged route and the route that God has offered to humanity is the route of his son. But no you can be saved. Even Vatican II says an atheist of good will can be saved, because in following his conscience, if he does.”

— Bishop Robert Barron

(Excerpt from interview with Ben Shapiro.)

The largest part of the underlying reality of why Robert Barron identifies as a Catholic Christian is actually pretty prosaic. His parents were Catholic and he grew up in a Catholic setting. Perhaps Robert Barron could give us some of his typically interesting and informative commentary on the relative proportions of those ‘born’ into Catholicism who become non-believers compared to the number of those who, starting from a non-Catholic setting, consciously choose Catholicism.

This is an explanation of why he became interested in theology rather than why he is a Christian.

The culture loses today in a lot of "hot" places .... mostly because not enough of the important things in life, are taken serious enough?? Public behaviors, and lack of social awareness, respect speaks for itself?? Somethings in life are critically serious! Sadly, they are only dismissed today, because it still takes real life energies, to use a good, decent, and sharp mind, and brain.

Yeah, ok, but why is Bishop Robert Barron a Christian?

Why invite a Catholic? He must not be entertained by faithful Christians (2 John 1:9-11).

Poor Alex, he doesn't know where to look for embarrassment.

Conversations about Gods existence need to happen but if those advocating for the reality of God don’t make the Gospel, faith alone in Christ alone for the payment of our sin, central these conversations are pointless. Is Hell not real? Has COVID not reinforced the reality that more than 100, 000 people die every day and most don’t know Christ?

Click bait title to this video.
1. You didn't take it seriously when young
2. You never doubted God in general
3. Hear a good apologist
4. You went to a specifically catholic school
5. Was catholic from the beginning and never doubted (which I guess is the same as 2 kinda)
beleive because I always beleived, I didn't doubt, I went to a school for believing, and I never didn't beleive it. And within that, an apologist guest at your catholic school. Never gave a single intellectual reason or even close to one. Someone debunk me and name a single reason he is christian from the video

Why I'm an ex catholic and now a born again ! The catholic sect teach heresy namely transubstantiation, mary worship, prayers for the dead, purgatory, praying to statues, indulgences, popes, priests, nuns and probably a lot more, i am now a Christian because a pastor taught the gospel from the bible and God opened my eyes to my sinful heart that is being sanctified over time through the reading of His word and prayer 😊🙏😇

Aquinas was a Christian, but I'm not sure that his famous arguments for the existence of God bolster Christianity over and above any other brand of god worship. I might be wrong about that though, as I can't be bothered reading Aquinas.
