Adrien Brody on 'The Brutalist'

In the sweeping new period drama "The Brutalist," Adrien Brody stars as László Toth, a Jewish Hungarian architect who survives the horrors of World War II, and seeks to rebuild his career after emigrating to America. My paternal grandfather, William (Bela) Toth was born in Ohio, very soon after his family arrived from a village north of Budapest (1898).

My paternal grandmother, her sisters and mother arrived by boat from Budapest in 1909 after selling their small farm in Hernad Bud, outside of Miskolz.

This film just speaks straight to me, my father getting his degree in architecture from Penn State, on the GI Bill, after servinng in the Navy during WW II.

Yep, I've had a crush on him for years. He is so good in everything he does-- a miniseries about Harry Houdini, various interviews, a wide range of TV shows and movies, everything. Smart, handsome, well-spoken, interesting, and just a little bit quirky.

Adrien is a wonderful actor; he was amazing in The Pianist—one of my beloved movies, a masterpiece! I also feel a deep connection with Adrien because I'm Polish, with Poles, Jews, and Hungarians in my family. Brody's mother is Hungarian Catholic, and his father is actually Polish Jewish, which shows because 'Brody' is a Polish word and surname that means 'beards'—the plural of beard, or from a different grammatical form, it's the Polish word that means the shallows (in a river or lake). As for my family, my uncle and cousins, whom I love very much, are Jewish, and my brother-in-law is Hungarian; he is an amazing guy! I love all these cultures: Polish, Jewish, and Hungarian! They have also mixed for centuries in Europe! I can't wait for The Brutalist, as I also love Brady Corbet!!

I had the biggest crush in Adrien Brody growing up I remember watching "The Pianist" and crying because hsi prformance was so powerrful I am rooting for Timmy this year but if Adrien gets it I would not be mad he is one of the best actors of this generation
