Thank you for your comments. I'm afraid I can't comment on the methodes - im "only" the cameraman/producer of the videos. The handling was done by very skilled professionels at the University of Copenhagen.

Before anyone here even thinks about posting that this is abuse, I want to state I’m currently in school for vet tech and have to learn to scruff mice and if you don’t scruff them and hold them upside down they will twist and clamp down on your finger and not let go. It’s a safety thing for both handlers and mouse.

I use this technique for checking my pet mice over once weekly to make sure that they're healthy. They aren't particularly fond of it, but they know they get treats afterwards for being good sports!

Thank you for this demonstration! I have pet mice, and one needs ear drops, and it's been making us both miserable trying to dose her. I was afraid to scruff her for fear of hurting her, but this is showing that it's easy, and that they don't seem to mind too terribly. Thank you again!

Thank you so much! One of my pet mice has a respiratory infection and I needed to swab her nose because I've never experienced respiratory infections in mice and didn't know the signs that well so I had to check. She's still very squirmy as I've only had her for little over a week but now I know for a fact she has a respiratory infection and we're heading to the vet in the morning ☺️

Thank you so much for your simple video! It was very helpful! I don't know why every other video on this topic was 10+ minutes long.

Thank you! I needed to take ear samples from my pet mouse for the vet, very helpful. And I can also administer treatment if needed. I'm worried he'll become scared of me but this is very controlled and quick

The handling of the mouse was very delicate and respectful. Very nice. :)
Holding a mouse by its tail is ok, but you have to hold by the base, not by the tip. Here on the video, it was done in the right way.

Now, how do you tell them apart if they all look the same?

That is really the simplest way  to show how to hold a laboratory mouse...
Thank you
