How to install the Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack compact amplifier | Crutchfield video

Показать описание

The Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack is a 4-channel amp that can be connected to nearly any stereo, including factory stereos, and then stashed behind the dash or in another small area. It's a straightforward upgrade that can really take your system to the next level.

Our expert shows you how to install the Power Pack in various situations in this video. We connect the speaker outputs of the Alpine amp to the factory speaker wire as a part of installing this amp with a factory radio using speaker level inputs. To connect this amp with an aftermarket radio (RCA connectors), the process is basically the same -- cut the factory wire, and connect outputs from the amp to the factory wires out to all the speakers.

@Crutchfield, I'm using a factory HU and have an amp using high-level-input (tapped into rear left n right speakers) to power a 10" sub.

Will the RCA pass-thru on my amp work to provide sound to the Alpine Power Pack? Or, does the RCA pass-thru only work when the amp's sound is coming from an RCA input?

Is 1 pair of RCAs all I need to power the Alpine Powerpack?

My idea is to use the Alpine Powerpack to give my rear aftermarket speakers more power, but also use the other 2 channels to add 2 6.5" speakers.

Hi, i have an Apline ilx-702d head unit, so i know the KTP-445 'A' model would be plug and play into my apline head unit but my only concern is my fuse for radio is only rated to 10 amps, would be over loading the circuit if i use the 'A' model amp as it would be running power from the radio circuit? Or do they have their own separate power and ground which i could run to the battery? If not would i be better off just using the 'U' universal amp as it comes with dedicated power and ground wires? thanks

Wouldn't it be great to have a ready harness for this type of application. The last thing I want to do is splice into my new Jeep JLU wires.

Would it be possible to use a T harness or a breakout harness in order to avoid cutting the OEM wires?

To save $200.00 I've decided to install this unit and my new radio myself. After watching this video I ask, "Is crying allowed? and will it help?"

I love this amp. I put this in my 2005 mustang gt years ago. 45 watts rms is more than enough To power your 4 speakers super loud with no distortion. This amp is about double power of any standard aftermarket head unit. Using this keeps my trunk clean. All I have is just one amp in the back powering the sub without having to run a bunch more wires to the back of the car to power 2 amps.

I'd like Crutchfield to do a review to compare both the Alpine KTP-445U and the KTA-450 sound quality.

This amp doesn't seem to need a large power wire. I'm planning to run a 8 gauge down to the harness power wire. I'm wondering if you did the same. Also, will grounding the amp directly to the battery prevent noise since it gets a direct path to the supply?

Installed this on a car i had awhile ago and what a pain it was. Most cars have no room behind the stereo for such madness. Had to make a new extra long harness and reroute everything. Long story short i took it out of my old car when it died and i will be paying to have it reinstalled in my jetta. Its a great amp, its nice that its compact but its still not gunna fit behind an aftermarket double din headunit.

so if i have a aftermarket stereo with the rca connectors do i still have to tap into my speaker wires from my car speaker wires to the amp to play sound?

Would you be able to tell me if I would need to connect to a battery for a Honda s2000?? Trying to work out if I need a to connect to battery. Thanks

would be nice if Metra or someone would make a model specific plug and play wire harness for this to eliminate all the tapping and splicing - especially for folks leasing their cars.

These sound excellent. I also want to add to this great video, Recommendations to NOT ground this radio to the aftermarket wiring harness along with the radio ground. (Twisting 3 grounds together) as this may cause engine noise. Chassis base will do great . Find something metal (not painted) and use a tapping screw to drill a hole then use a ring terminal (included) at the end of the ground to contact the metal, and fasten
AND WALLAH! No engine noise

Great video, but how do you connect the power from the battery to the amp? I bought an 8 gauge power cable, and the amp is 14 gauge, any idea how to go about it? Thanks!

Do I spy a Sinn 556i with a BluShark NATO strap on your hand model? Wise choice

So if I have an aftermarket radio right RCA pre outs, I do not need to cut the harness coming from the stereo?

I bought this amp over 2 weeks ago it worked great for about a week and a half. now My speakers cut in and out and crackle. When i turn off my truck, they seem to go back to normal. I'm not sure what's going on, maybe ground issue, not sure.

Wouldn’t it be better just to run to battery so there’s constant power, in this case 15amps, I feel like if you tie into the head unit power it will work but be lower ?
