Friendly advice: always make sure to ask doctor how many stitches they put and how many they removed. I had a doctor who removed half of the stitches on my eye and forgot about the rest. Only reason i avoided really infection and quite possibly a nasty complications is that i went to my doctor after ~4 months instead of a year that previous doc recommended

in most cases there are some dissolvable stitches ( I got them ) as the wound heals the stitches dissolve and they don’t have to reopen the wound to cut them out .

I've always taken out my own stitches. Never have they grown into my skin, and it doesn't hurt. This animation makes it look as though it would be painful, but the freezing needle you get before the stitches, is what hurts
