These foam bo staff are a great option if you are a looking to practice some sparring / fighting with bo staffs. You can train quite happily without the worry and stress of serious pain, which you would get if training with wooden bo staffs. They are made from a plastic core with a sturdy foam covering, they are very flexible and also very tough. These Foam bo staffs will take a battering and the foam will suffer first before the stick breaks.

How well does it take full swings from another foam bo when you block with the middle of the staff and a very wide-handed grip? So basically, the most stress the staff can come under during regular sparring (grappling aside). I currently have a 128cm (4 ft) foam jyo which bends in the middle under stress but hasn't broken yet. Looks like the same brand btw. I'm considering getting a foam bo but have concerns that the increased length will make it a lot easier for the plastic core to break. So any input on how much stress the bo length staffs can handle would be much appreciated.

Was eager to get it as I wanted to practice sparring.. till I saw the shipping cost to Canada... was estimated at 160 dollars Canadian.. like Jesus the shipping was literally 4 times the price of the staff.. bummer man, that's way outta my price range for a plastic and foam Bo staff.. good and informative video though.. had me sold up until that
