My best guess for that G crest is maybe they wanted to emulate that single curl classic Superman usually has on his forehead, though it's probably just a coincidence.
Still, I do like the idea of Optimus having a cape (really enjoy pretending Siege Prime's modular back kibble being one). Wouldn't mind seeing a Prime with a trailer that transforms into some sort of cape, especially if it'd actually look good.

If i had to guess what the G is for, i'd assume its for Ginrai, which was Optimus' name in the old Powermasters japenese anime

The "G" on the head is similar to the one added to a previous OSKO Optimus Prime figure (A fairly recent one, like the regular Earthrise version perhaps?)

Perhaps you could paint the triangle and "G" in the same colours as the "S" symbol on Superman's chest?
