The Super Mario franchise is one of the most successful of all time, and with any popular character, comes bootlegs! If you can think of it, there's probably a fake Mario version of it out there. Toys, games, clothing, restaurants and more, bootleg Mario products cover everything you could possibly imagine. So today, we'll be looking at it all!

In this video, we'll be going over unlicensed Mario plush, figures, video games, and even businesses that all use Mario's likeness without Nintendo's permission. There is a true rabbit hole of Mario bootleg content out there, and this video is here to preserve it all.

As a kid in middle school, I often saw people wearing shirts depicting characters like SpongeBob and Bugs Bunny as gangsters, and I always wondered if they were actually official or not.

when i was 9, i was obsessed w/ super mario to the point i asked my parents for plushes of ALL the characters & enemies for my 10th birthday. this resulted in my parents indeed getting plushes of most chars & enemies, but here's the thing: almost none of them were official. wiggler, chain chomp, bowser, goomba, paratroopa, koopa troopa, you name an enemy, i had a plush of it on the kitchen table for my 10th birthday. there were like 45 in total. but most were bootlegs from ebay. i still played with them & enjoyed them anyway.

but. my favorite, & the one i've kept after so long, even after we sold/gave away all the plushes, was a green yoshi. i've had him since that time, it's been about 8 years now. this whole time, i thought he was official. this video just revealed to me he's a bootleg. this yoshi has been with me across the usa, to disneyland, the grand canyon, los angeles, disney world, & now i'm finding out he was merely a cheap copy for easy cash.

locally, we have a towing company named mario's. this company has been here for over 30 years, and they have nothing to do with super mario. but I do remember at one point, we had a towing company nammed luigi's, and it had a bootleg luigi on the truck insulting mario's.

So about SigurdHosenfeld (the artist behind that one Peach drawing that would be used on a bootleg), I recently found out he lost a battle with cancer and passed away in 2016. May he rest in peace.

Hold on a minute, I HAVE a supersized Luigi figure. It was probably one of the most memorable christmas presents I’ve ever gotten. His head hasn’t stood the test of time, though.

I lived nearby the Dr. Amigo office and I believe its been there since 2010. While it does make sense that they would change their logo in fear of Nintendo coming after them, I think they were just tired of trolls leaving 1star reviews and making Mario related jokes on all of their social media.
