Brian May Recalls Iconic Live Aid Performance and Shares Rare Live Aid Rehearsal Footage

It's been almost 38 Years since Queen gave their one of the most iconic performances.

Everybody present at Wembley Stadium on 13th July 1985 knew they had witnessed history in the making.

So that's very much likely why Queen's afternoon set is often the first thing that springs to mind when anybody mentions Live Aid.

Brian May Shared this Rare Video of Queen Rehearsing their Live Aid performance on his Instagram page and wrote

"Fondly remembering LIVE AID at this time of year, I was pretty amazed to see this - an amazing find - thanks to @iswearshesvintage and apparently somebody called Chief Mouse on YouTube. Here you see us rehearsing for the Queen Live Aid appearance - and talking about how we think it's gonna be. And the rehearsal footage, captured raw, shows us in a completely different, relaxed state of mind, from the hypervibed way we will be on that extraordinary night in 1985. All sorts of adventurous variations in how we're playing - which now seem like a precious capture by the BBC - a whole different 'lost' performance. In particular, listen to Freddie's beautiful high notes in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Thank you for sharing this DM&C Queen rocked the Live Aid event, they where the best act of the day imo. I love all of their concerts, but Live Aid was a special event, because it was for a fantastic cause. Ty again 👑💛👑

To briefly describe Queen as a live band, this performance is ideal. Precise planning, the ability to compensate for small mistakes and yet enough freedom/time for Freddie Mercury to incorporate spontaneous deposits, e.g. Dance with the cameraman. That was Queen live with a Freddie Mercury who also managed to get (non)Queen viewers to cheer.
