In a recent Interview Brian May recalled a memory with Queen Elizabeth II from their 2002 performance on the roof of Buckingham Palace.
It’s been 20 years since Brian May played the national anthem on his electric guitar on the top of Buckingham Palace on the event of Queen's Golden Jubilee.

He revealed that he was horrified because he believed that if he made a mistake, he would be always remembered as ‘the guy who messed up.’
He even said that he broke a Royal Protocol according to which no one can open a conversation with the monarch.

So in that interview Brian May said “It was very, very frightening. I thought if I mess up God Save The Queen in front of a billion people on TV, that will be what I am for the rest of my life — the guy who messed up. There was a silence. And of course, protocol says you’re not allowed to open a conversation with the monarch, but I thought, ‘Someone has to say something.’ So I said, ‘Very happy to meet you, Ma’am — I’m the guy who was standing on your roof.’ And she said, ‘Oh, that was you, was it?'”
