In this video we take a look at the new Hornby Advanced Passenger Train Class 370 APT 5 car pack R3873. This pack includes two Driving Trailer Second, two Trailer Brake First and a Non Driving Motor. The pack enables the DTS - TBF - NDM - TBF - DTS formation. This model is in the original APT livery. This video features the unboxing, first look review and a running session of the new APT 5-car set. This is the first customer review of the APT.

Enjoyed your review and the APT running. Was on the inaugural trip 8th December 1981 and still have all the memorabilia handed out on the day. My son was four at the time, youngest on board and we were interviewed by the media when we arrived in London. It made an unscheduled stop on the return to pick up Isla St Clair in the Lake District. She was famous at the time, starring in The Generation Game. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey and experienced no sickness problems.

That's a very nice looking train. I'm shocked, though, by the engineering of the power car. That looks like something you might have expected in Hornby's original APT, not in a 2020s product. For the price, it should be much more solid and stable.

Nice video . I had the original Hornby version for Xmas about 1980/81 when I was 8 or 9, I sold it for £25 in 1998 !

I've been thinking about getting one of these 5 car sets, only issue is has the full yellow front instead of the addition of the black around the cab windows which I prefer and that's only available in the 7 car pack and it's extremely pricey 😬

Hornby's packaging strikes again. As I live in Thailand I have been looking to see if there is a shop in China that sells Hornby's products and I did not find one. Now you have told me about one in Hong Kong I will take a look on the internet for it. So thank you very much. The APT looks to be a lovely model, but it is too modern for me. I model LNER to early diesels. Era1 to Era 5. Martin. (Thailand)

Which should I go for the 5-car pack or 7-car pack. I want to go for the 5-car one as it's cheaper but I want the 7-car as it has the black mask on the front, which I prefer over the plain yellow front.

This was pretty much the train that never was. I remember at the time it was going to be next big thing but it totally flopped. I believe they intended these to be running all across the UK but it died almost as fast as it came out. It's actually mad that they are still talking about high speed rail now with modern trains and it's still not up and running.

The model shop you said was airland models only do planes what I can see from it when I Google it
