The Kirlian aura is the interaction between the high frequency electrical field & a specimen. Even a dead coin shows an aura, suggesting it's nothing to do with the so-called life force. However, photos of two people, both friendly & antagonistic, show, respectively, a combined field & a repelling field. The other claim of interest with Kirlian photography is the phantom leaf effect, where after a part of a leaf is cut away, sometimes a photograph shows a whole leaf, not so easy to explain away.

Anyone who has studied qicong, yoga and Theosophy will tell you that what is captured on a Kirlian photograph is NOT the aura. The human aura is the part of the astral body that extends outside the surface of the body. OK, so let's discard the term "aura", shall we, because it is inappropriate. What is relevant here is what Kabbalists call the "zelim", the Hindu yogis call the "pranamaya kosher" and the Theosophists call the "etheric double". This is a complex network of channels called nadis through which seven types of prana (life-energy, called "chi", or "qi" in Taoism) are said to flow. What is captured by Kirlian photography is NOT any flow of subtle energy but an electrical coronal discharge of electrons from the skin induced by the intense electrical fields. What made everyone (or most) think that a subtle energy had been photographed was the similarity between the Bremsstrahlung radiation emitted by the electrons accelerated off the skin by the applied electric fields and the drawings depicting the striated flow of prana out of the fingers, as seen by clairvoyants. The two types of energy (electrons, prana) are totally different but look rather similar as streams of particles. Kirlian photography does not capture prana/chi. It could not do in principle because prana, being electrically uncharged, does not absorb/emit/scatter photons, whatever the frequency of the latter. Prana is composed of particles that are themselves composite, belonging to a second universe that is invisible to light, whatever its frequency. It shares the same space as the universe of visible matter. However, the two universes are 10-d space-time sheets that are spaced along the 10th dimension of space predicted by M-theory for E8xE8' heterotic superstring theory. In other words, ordinary matter belongs to the E8'-singlet sector of E8xE8, ' whilst the invisible matter seen by clairvoyants and classified by various mystical traditions pervades this second, co-existing universe and belongs to the E8-singlet sector of this symmetry group. Nothing except gravity can travel across this gap because no type of particle can belong to both sectors. This is why the subtle energy of the pranamaya kosher is normally invisible except to the inner vision of a clairvoyant. It streams out of the fingers in a way that looks similar to the radiation emitted by electrons from finger tips when accelerated by a voltage. But it is NOT (and cannot) be the same thing.
