How to Draw with Charcoal Pencils - Landscape Sketching

In this lesson, we create a landscape sketch using charcoal pencils. A four step approach is taken to accomplish this.

Awesome drawing. I love that I picked up drawing and painting and that none of my family or friends part take in it and that I can inspire them. I think it's losing interest especially in the education system (in Canada anyway), it's focussing on digital art which is good too. But it's nothing like starting from a sheet of paper and ended up with something like this.

I did develop the habit of drawing the detail right from the start about 57years ago, now I can't draw any other way such as this it just goes chaotic I like this way but as I say great detail from start such as potraits of famous people thank for the tips paper towels etc was getting worried about that one

Love the idea of a powdered charcoal. Our teacher usually likes us to start with a willow ground, but this idea with the powder is a nice variation in process, as it can focus more on where we want different ranges in the values.

Pretty nice. But I'm bothered some by the trees on the left that don't quite look right. I think there need to be some darker midtones or else the darkest portions need to be lightened. Squinting a little, I see an array of very dark lines amidst a neutral midtone mass with light highlights.
