My heart goes out to Russians that suffer under their leaders, which is most of the population. Sure, many are brainwashed and propagandized. But I will always remember the stories from my mother, who was Polish and sent to a Soviet gulag for two years at 16. (She was one of the lucky ones to get out when the Soviets joined the allies in 1941, only 100K of the 1.6M Poles got out.) Despite the horror, rape etc., she told me stories of impoverished Russians that helped her. There really is a Russian Soul. To this day 20-40% of Russians don't have running water in their homes. The money went to the corrupt leaders.

Russia's problem is mostly just fatherlessness. Many old Russians grew up without their fathers or just stepdads. Thank god! You are a father making sure that your children are healthy, so your children won't turn to stereotypical vatniks.

I know another country with the same attitude, which never confessed of such horrible crimes like biological warfare against native population, chemical warfare against the native population and the vegetation of their country, nuclear warfare against living cities and massive use of depleted uranium in small-caliber air-based artillery which is still stuck in the ground. Very intellectual take on the matter TBH. I think there is significant truth in your thoughts. Accountability leads to a point of reflection as a whole and interpersonally. If something is heinous enough ultimately after those are held to account you often have closure then a philosophical swing as to say we will never again allow. In modern times that simply has not given a ton of instances as we've been relatively stable. However you are correct Russia has simply not had that philosophical swing as demonstrated by most Nations that have perpetrated heinous events within the last 100 years of history.

True, but neither did any other country, the USSR was not just Russia, all other Soviet countries pretended it was all Moscow’s fault and they were innocent little sheep, but Stalin was Georgian for example.
Also this was was not started by Russia, Ukraine has been shelling innocent civilians in Donbas for 8 years and they still do, there are lots of lies about this issue.
