Data on a hard disk drive (HDD) is not accessed sequentially. It's accessed randomly just like RAM. Tape drive data is accessed sequentially. One of the reasons why a HDD is much slower than RAM is due to the fact that it's a mechanical device with lots of moving parts. RAM on the other hand is electronic with no moving parts.

i have a question lets consider my ram as 2 GB and my comp is slow because much file work are done on hard disk so
if i buy a new ram of up to 12 gb or something my comp will run fast right

I know RAM resets when a PC is rebooted. But I also see that some RAM is given back when certain programs are closed, and then still others do not give back memory when closed. What determines which programs hold onto RAM after being closed?

guys I got a question! Im trying to get more storage. currently had like 2gb before but i had to sacrifice apex legends for 45 gb. i deleted my encrpted virus files and now its 50. I cant free anymore spaces since i did every technique in the world!! How do I buy storage?
