Moldova existed before the Romania was a country, at least the name. So it's not a 'younger' brother. Smaller? Yes. Younger? No.

You were a bit wrong in explaining Bessarabia. The Republic of Moldova (Bessarabia) is a region of Moldova that was taken over by the Russian Empire in 1812. The rest of Moldova continued to exist until 1859 when it was united with Wallachia to form Romania. This Bessarabia is a completely different country than Medieval Moldova, a Russian domination while Moldova still exists nearby. The world confuses too much the Republic of Moldova with the Principality of Moldova just because they have the same name even if in English when you refer to the historical region (that of Romania which is historical Moldova) you say Moldavia while the republic after 91 is called Moldova pronounced as in Romanian

I will add with the video representation. The flag of the Republic of Moldova is inspired by that of Romania. Historically, the Principality of Moldova did not have a tricolor, only after the unification of the principalities.

There are many mistakes in this video, and as a moldovan ill tell some . in 1859 the principality of moldavia united w Romania, not bessarabia which was part of Russia till the bolshevic revolution. In 1918 Romania didnt take Bessarabia but we united with Romania to form Greater Romania, we wanted this unification btw.

When talking about Moldova, it's impossible to ignore Stephan the Great's influence. Bessarabia is a significant part of Moldova, but it's important to note that Moldova united with Walachia not just Bessarabia. The conflict arose between Russian soldiers and the Moldovan army, not between Transnistria and Moldova. Due to Bessarabia being part of the USSR, there was a territorial exchange. Transnistria, originally Ukrainian territory, was swapped with the White Citadel County (Cetatea Alba). This exchange unfortunately resulted in Moldova losing its access to the sea, which it previously had through Citadel County. That is why even today Moldova does not have access to the sea.

You made some things wrong in the beginning, it is hard to do correct but I will correct them. First of all, Principality of Moldavia founded by Dragoș Vodă isn't the same as Republic of Moldova today, but this will make sense later. Dragoș Vodă was a "Vlach" an exonym given to the Romanian people which was used for Latin-speakers (Romance speakers). This is also attested in a document written by Louis the First King of Hungary, this letter tells us about an Anti-Hungarian revolt, and was written on 20th of March 1360 saying: "plures Olachos rebellantes" which "Dragu (Dragoș) filli Gyulae, fidelis Olahi nostri de Maramarusio", "Oláh" is the Hungarian form of Vlach used for Romanians, and Dragoș was a kenazate or "noble man" of the modern region called Maramureș in modern day Romania, part of the famous place called Transylvania. Now your drawing of Principality of Moldavia is wrong, Bessarabia didn't make the whole region of the principality, and Bessarabia actually didn't look like that until 1812. Principality of Moldavia was split into three regions, those being: Moldova de Sus (Upper Moldova) which splits the region of modern day Bucovina and northern Bessarabia, we have Moldova de Joș (Lower Moldova) that splits the modern Romanian region of center Moldova and the center of Bessarabia into one region, but the last region was called "Basarabia" that was actually modern day "Bugeac" in Ukraine. When the Russians annexed the region we call today Bessarabia from Principality of Moldavia in 1812, the Russians took the name of "Basarabia" from modern day Bugeac and named whole region "Basarabia", that we know of today. The thing is, Principality of Moldavia still existed after the annexation, and by 1859 Alexandru Ioan Cuza who was a noble man from Moldavia became elected Prince of Moldavia and months later as Prince of Wallachia and formed what we call "the little Union" and he named the new state Romania as that was the endonym of the people from both principalities. Bessarabia on the other hand still remained part of the Russian Empire until its collapse in 1917, and one year later The Moldavian Democratic Republic (Bessarabia) voted for a full union with Kingdom of Romania in 1918

so very wrong about 1859
it wasn't Basarabia who united with Valahia, but the part of Moldova that remained independent

Basarabia remained a part of russian empire until 1917

hey!! this is really great! i'm from Moldova and i was quite surprised to find this video!
- the legend is really known! the national animal may be another species but it is called "bizon" in our language so.
- the history part was really good and quite entertaining! (doing a better job than my history teacher..)
- we do make A LOT of wine! it actually won a prize at the end of 2022!
- Mămăligă, even if it is well... porridge, we usually eat it with cottage cheese or sour cream!
- on a similar note, another well-known dish is... cabbage rolls!
- the mall is indeed called malldova! its quite a nice mall not gonna lie!
reply if you have questions :)

Basarabia was just a half of Moldova, including Bucovina. Sad but this little big fact ruined the whole video 😢

Basarabia is a part of the former Moldova state, taken by the Russians, not the other way around as it is presented here. And another mistake: Romania didn't just take Basarabia back, by force, after WWI, as it is suggested, The parliament of Basarabia voted for the union with Romania.

Another fact about Moldovan wine (In my oppinion), The wine you find at the stores may be great, but the best wine isnt for sale, It`s produced by people in their home gardens and saved for the guests or special occasions. I never found anything in any Moldovan store as good as the homemade wine. My neighbour gifted me a bottle of 5 year old wine becouse I drove him home one day.
