I figured out that if I don't wash my hands before yoyoing, it'll gather dirt from my hand like pinching slightly on top of the string all the way down, basically what he's doing for removing excess tension.

it works other way as well i tried keeping the yo-yo on the bottom and its work

How to fix a yoyo that’s tangled at won’t be untangled because I just bought a new yoyo and after 1 trick, I can’t roll the string in the yoyo
