Muon is an audiovisual installation that aims to observe hidden physical processes that surround us and makes them tangible to the viewers.
--------------------------------------------------------
To learn about the world, we keep looking deeper and deeper into the night sky. planets, stars, galaxies send us their radiation from unimaginable distances. It only needs to be detected, seen.
--------------------------------------------------------
The subject of observation of this installation is high energy cosmic radiation. every square centimeter of Earth's surface is under constant particle bombardment. Most of this radiation originates outside of our solar system and decays into nothingness after having traveled billions of kilometers. Cosmic radiation is mostly comprised of protons and atomic nuclei. In most cases these particles don't reach the surface of the earth and decay into simpler ingredients - Muons. Exactly these are the subject of our observations.
--------------------------------------------------------
The work consists of a thermoelectric cloud chamber - for directo bservation, a scintillating particle detector - to controll the projections, and projections - to put the scale of this phenomenon in perspective.
