JonJon. So true about adding a weakness. Using the Lifepath to develop a weakness or even a unique quirk about the Solo helps to round out the character. Heartbreak ridge is a great Solo/team type of film that helps to show the unique quirks of a fighting team, or using the more modern, Expendables. Each character has some unique trait. Even stepping outside of the standard solo package and giving them a skill such as Teaching, Botany, zoology, etc can help to define a hobby or past life that the PC may have had in order to develop a more human aspect of the character. Another Great episode. I look forward to the Netrunner episode, it is by far the most complex and William Gibson driven character. I feel that this is one of the most Vital characters in Cyberpunk. The Netrunner is your key to Night City and Beyond. All the best.

If I ever pick up a Solo character I definitely try to create an old merc with massive psychosis.

I feel like anybody wants to be THE badass, Spike Spiegel style. And yes that is cool. We all played one of them at one point.

But I feel like we just need to experiment with these war crime comitting nutcases a little bit more. Cyberpsychosis is a BIG thing in Cyberpunk, always was. Why not play someone who already suffers from it. And I don't even mean this "cool" kind of cyberpsychosis where your character thinks that he is king kong and climbs on a building while plowing through enemies with his metal fists.

I mean the more real and grounded AND argueably more horrible kind of psychosis. The "firing 200mm mortar shells into civilians because they couldn't stop beeing so noisy" kind.

If your group is up to more serious themes, then I think it would be quite interesting to play the solo not only as a solution-man, but also a direct liability.

The group then has to weigh up wether or not they want their killer to get involved.
That said, I believe if you are not putting heavy roleplay into this character, it can get really irritating for the others and yourself.

Polar with Madds Mikkelsen is a good example of a Solo I think.

I am super glad you brought up the Charasmitic Solo. The system and a decent GM can really make the world live and breathe. Thanks for putting this content out its nice to hear constructive and logical suggestions for running and playing 2020 and RED online keep up the good work!

My Solo Info dump…

The Table lovingly calls her “role”

The MURDER_FACE

I wanted to play a solo but didn’t want to be “The Solo” more people think about., Thus Officer “Jet” Jacqueline Enola Tama currently working for the NCPD was made. (The whole table decided to make a Squad its been CRAZY fun.)

I spent pretty heavily into social skills and it’s been really cool to be able to talk to gangers and other NPC’s getting them to help, be ears and eyes rather than just bodies! So we have lots of informants and contacts.

Combat Zone raised and forged and A HUGE family for the GM to kill off T.T

Which really flushes the world out and makes it feel even more like a living breathing thing.

Last time when I play 1 guy made solo with body stat on 2. He was very good dwarf solo with egzoskeleton.

With the release of Cyberpunk 2077, my D&D game is now a Cyberpunk game. Thanks you for helping with my research.

Some one needs to run a game where everyone in Keanu Reeves
John wick as the solo, Johnny mnemonic as the net runner, and Ted as the rockerboy, im sure someone else knows more of his roles to bulk out the roster

I dunno but after hearing these weaknesses I instantly thought of The Black Adder, no-skills scumbag elite opportunist. I would create level 2 solo who doesn't know anything but blames their mistakes on other peoples. Thanks fir the breakdowns btw they give good knowledge about each roles.

I'm reminded of the perks from the original fallout games, they had a + side and a - side to them, this should be a core in all rpg's, I mean, nobody is perfect, When I make a D&D character I tend to make my weakness/flaw upon my dump stat/lowest stat, for example, My dwarven fighter has a Dex and Cha of 8, he is clumsy af and ignorant, this can be easily applied to 2020, I find flaws and the eventual conquering of said fears/flaws makes an interesting personal quest of sorts, Or you get let them get the better of you for equally interesting results :)

Cyberpunk RED got my interest and me and some friends are considering playing it.would you recommend using the 2020 skills from the classes with the mechanics from RED.?

Do you think it would be possible to make another run at all the roles now, after the Red has been released for some time leaning heavier on how they work/interact in Red? These videos are still good but I feel like it still takes more on 2020 version (granted some roles barely changed) + I imagine since these videos were out you had a lot of personal experience how things are played out in Red, running the homebrew and DMing for some time.

I’d say the baddest of the solos is Deadpool. Interesting, funny, badass
