im gonna be real with you asking whether space fascists were 'the good guys all along' isnt a good look from the outset. sure it might be a work of fiction but fiction doesnt exist in a vacuum and cm kosemen through all tomorrows is ultimately sending a message counter to this

That's an idea. Does a Rhinoceros understand that he's being captured, sedated, and tagged for the benefit of his own species? Unlikely, he most likely thinks he's being attacked and sees humans as enemies.

In a strange way, the Qu created the next Qu like species not through their actions directly, but rather by driving some of the Star people into hiding to avoid them. The spacers were able to observe the suffering and enjoyment of the other species from afar without having to be directly involved. This 3rd person view of conflicts probably gave them so much data on why conflict starts, how it continues, and eventually how it resolves that they didn't have to start conflicts with themselves

I doubt it for one reason: the sole reason stated as to why the Qu attacked humanity was that, like the Qu, humanity used bio-engineering to adapt the universe to their advantage (transplanting Earth fauna and flora on to colony worlds etc) which was an affront to the holier than thou Qu who saw only themselves as worthy of such dominion.

Of course we only have the author’s word that this is true, but it seems likely to be the case. I don’t see any “benevolent” reason why the Qu would attack humanity as the Star People came about *after* a period of interstellar conflict brought on by humanity and represented a peaceful utopian society of humans.

Respect for human life? I dont think they have that. Remember the mantilopes are the way they are because that amused the Qu who used them for living dictionaries. Also the Qu turned colonials into living sewer filters out of spite. They hold grudge for the people that defeated them 2 times and punished them. A wise race guarding the life across the galaxy wouldnt have those aspects. Also if they were omipitent guardians they would detect asteromorphs but they didnt and eventually got defeated by them.
They are galactic nomadic plunderers not rules.

Qu are more neutral, rather than good or evil. I agree that Gravitals are infinetly worse that them, despite Author's insistence that they're not evil.

This take on the Qu reminds me of a short story told in Plato's The symposium, setting aside the book's topic love, this part of the symposium can also be interpreted as a cautionary tail.
(extract from Wikipedia, I can confirm that the following is from the book although slightly altered as i have read The Symposium and own a copy.)

"This is, he says because in primal times people had doubled bodies, with faces and limbs turned away from one another. As spherical creatures who wheeled around like clowns doing cartwheels (190a), these original people were very powerful. There were three sexes: the all male, the all female, and the "androgynous, " who was half male, half female. The males were said to have descended from the sun, the females from the earth and the androgynous couples from the moon. These creatures tried to scale the heights of Olympus and planned to set upon the gods (190b-c). Zeus thought about blasting them with thunderbolts but did not want to deprive himself of their devotions and offerings, so he decided to cripple them by chopping them in half, in effect separating the two bodies. Ever since that time, people run around saying they are looking for their other half because they are really trying to recover their primal nature. The women who were separated from women run after their own kind, thus creating lesbians. The men split from other men also run after their own kind and love being embraced by other men (191e). Those that come from original androgynous beings are the men and women that engage in heterosexual love. He says some people think homosexuals are shameless, but he thinks they are the bravest, most manly of all, as evidenced by the fact that only they grow up to be politicians (192a), and that many heterosexuals are adulterous and unfaithful (191e). Aristophanes then claims that when two people who were separated from each other find each other, they never again want to be separated (192c). This feeling is like a riddle, and cannot be explained. Aristophanes ends on a cautionary note. He says that men should fear the gods, and not neglect to worship them, lest they wield the axe again and we have to go about hopping on one leg, split apart again (193a). If a man works with the god of Love, they will escape this fate and instead find wholeness."

I like this theory, it would make sense for them too see themselves as peacekeepers because they'd have an alien view to us and the author plus some factions probably sore themselves that way, it'd be cool to know the history, their society and what become of them, looking forward to your next upload.

Koseman fills a niche of being the other side of the coin to my enjoyment of Robert E. Howard stories.

Always feels great.

The Asteromorphs and other post humans realized if they continued progress they'd eventually warp not just technologically and evolutionarily but their mindsets as well. Yesterday's heroes are tomorrow villains, and whose to say if the people of the past knew what what the future held that theyd be horrified by our way of life. The only logical solution was to ascend beyond the material plane and leave the rest of the universe to progress and eventually follow suit.

It's an interesting theory, but one thing just makes me question if this theory actually makes sense: Panderavis. If they really were the good guys, then how do you explain the existence of Panderavis, an earth dinosaur on an alien planet? (And last I checked, therizinosaurs were not the most intelligent of dinosaurs.)
Other than that, nice video.

Beware the Qu ‘what if the Qu are the good guys’ sounds like something the Qu would say.

The fact it took 1, 000 years for the Qu to beat the Star People means the Star People weren't push overs

i've always liked unreliable narrators because it gives people the chance to fill in blanks and come up with theories even if some evidence might go against it which is always fun to hear about, and nothing is more unreliable than an author that isn't even descended from humans looking over fragments of history that are a billion years old or more

I have a realization, without the Qu, humanity would never have united and eventually ascend into the god-like asteromorphs, and maybe when the Qu were defeated, the Qu passed on the role of nomadic god-like beings to the Asteromorphs. And thats why humanity vanished during the time of the author, they have travelled to a different galaxy or universe to continue the work of the Qu

Interesting theory, but the colonials were definitely just the result of the Qus spite for having defended against them
