My HOTTEST Animal Crossing Takes

Over the course of my channel, I’ve often offhandedly expressed my unpopular opinions about the Animal Crossing franchise. Today, I decided to assemble them all into one video for your viewing displeasure.

All i want is more creepy villagers. yeah the cutie patooties are amazing and i love them to death but i want FREAKS OF NATURE. i want to go to a mystery island, and find a villager and have my immediate reaction be "what kind of sleep paralysis demon designed this creature." villagers like Lucky, Coco, Pierre, and Raddle are perfect examples of freaky lookin creatures that exist. i want spooky little guys, is that so much to ask for?

I'm going to 1-up you on the Tom Nook thing and say Kapp'n should be the face of the franchise. For me he embodies the chill laid back vibes I love about the series so much. But honestly Tom Nook does make the most sense as the main icon of AC, Kapp'n is just my personal favorite. As for actual hot takes, I guess I'd say I don't like that they added farming and cooking in the final update, as Animal Crossing being a farm sim is just weird. But I don't know how the rest of the fandom feels about that

I used to love feeling like I didn't have a say who lived in my town. Villagers would come and go and I would form relationships with whatever animals moved in, whether they were 'desirable' or not.

My hot take is that I loved City Folk (which probably is partly due to having a great interaction with someone that I met through the game)

Yep, I agree with you on all 'hot takes'
I would say my personal 'hot take' is that the Gamecube music is my favourite, there is something about the bizarre random sounds and tunes that in a way immerses me into that game I love New Leaf sound track but the Gamecube takes the cake for me.

Nook being the face of the games over Isabelle is a hot take? Since when? Lots of other people also love him and want him to get ever more attention, luckily NH gave him a huge push

I have to say I absolutely agree with everything you said even struggle enjoying new horrizons aka doll house simulator when I put in my favourite villagers and theme their homes around previous games interests (because they don't tell you anything about themselves anymore). I love Jambette and Harry and I even struggled to enjoy new horizons with them on my island. Back to new leaf for me but I am dreading winter *shivers*.

Speaking as someone who's favourite AC character is Isabelle, I still agree with you that Tom deserves to be the face of the franchise more for all the reasons you said. Though if I had to argue a tiny bit, I think Nintendo only used Isabelle as the series' mascot during the New Leaf era, which makes sense when you think about it. Ever since NH came out, Tom seems to have retaken the spotlight, but I think a lot of older fans still feel a bit sour about Isabelle because she was at the forefront for so long, which is a shame.

Just finished this video after watching your video on why New Leaf is the best animal crossing game and only just noticed after this one how considerably underrated this channel is.
Brilliant takes on both videos and amazing editing, keep up the amazing work my friend 👍

I think even though Isabelle is currently representing the face of the franchise, I believe Tom Nook has had his fair share still, since his signature leaf is the logo of the series, and outside of Smash bros I find he's still represented well, in the Final Smash of Villager/Isabelle and he was the one who announced the development of New Horizons, I've played since the Gamecube and for a short while even went back to the original for N64, so I feel you :D

Agreed on the weirdo villagers! My New Leaf town has a nice balance of cute/pretty villagers and oddballs, and I like it that way. It makes them feel different from each other even when they're the same personality type. Seems like a healthier ecosystem somehow haha

Hot take: cooking is better than putting furniture outside

I like the idea of finding a new villager on an island (partly because I found some of my new favourites that way, and an old favourite my Wild World bff Daisy) but the fact that they never leave unless you let them does end up feeling a little stale. Also hate snow

I got quite a hot take take. You might want to get some water for this.
I think the dialogue in NH is alright instead of bad. I agree the dialogue in past games are much better. But despite NH dialogue taking a back seat, I was still able to run into a bunch of cute, funny or interesting dialogue from my villagers. Some examples are:
- Jeremiah being banned from various transport due to his stupidity.
- Winnie talking too fast due to drinking too much coffee.
-Hazel getting upset that an old friend didn't let her help with his depressive state.
-Literally ALL the "2 villagers" dialogues.
-Curt talking about being in the hospital alot by doing normal kid stuff. Animals started calling him the "mummy" because of his bandages.

I agree NH dialogue is lacking but I personally think it's not bad. It's just alright.

I personally like a lot of the new villagers (Especially Sherb. I love Sherb. Easily one of my favorite villagers.), but i'd say your take is valid. It does definitely feel like they were playing it safe with the designs.

I... Did not realise Tom Nook WASN'T the face of animal crossing. Yikes, really? I mean, I love Isabelle, she's really sweet, but Nook has always had a bigger impact! The memes about debt, (despite the concept of debt that you can pay off whenever with no price increase being incredible) the iconicness of his design, the jokes about him and Redd being bitter exes- How could he NOT be the face when all inside jokes in the fandom about ABOUT HIM??? I mean, I can't even think about a quip relating to Isabelle... Did you know she IS A BELL? ?!?!?! I got nothin'.

Gosh darn it Monty. He just moved right behind retail, which had a bunch of flowers behind it. BUT i forgive him, and I guess I should give him a chance.

My hot take? I think Zipper T. Bunny is a fine special character. Granted, he's not my favorite, but i don't have a seething hatred for him like a lot of other people have.

To me, he's a good representation of someone just doing his job, in this instance being an Easter Bunny. He puts on an act of being this super happy and whimsical character to spread the Bunny Day magic and quickly stops whenever nobody is around to take a break so he doesn't exhaust himself, like how people in this profession often do.

I don't even mind how he looks, the fact that his appearance can come off as a bit unnerving matches how a lot of real life Easter bunny costumes also look mildly unnerving, visible zipper and all!

I can see why people don't like him however, in a series where holiday characters seem to live and breath what they celebrate, to the point where it's kinda hard to imagine them being normal people outside of the holiday, having this bizarrely realistic depiction of someone just doing their job and not being a living breathing embodiment of the holiday can certainly feel pretty jarring.
