'Pick of the Day' - 1957 Fender Esquire and 1954 Tweed Deluxe

What a fabulous set we have today, a '57 white guard Esquire and '54 tweed Deluxe! This guitar has some honest play wear, but is in great condition overall with a nice semi-chunky profile neck with a comfortable soft-V, typical of the era. It plays excellently, with the whole guitar vibrating with the notes played, and of course has that powerful twang one would be looking for in a guitar like this!

The amp is in great 100% original condition and has been untouched, still intact with the original filter caps, tubes and two prong power chord. Sounds great and has a saturated, compressed overdrive with a nice feel and sag.

A no-frills guitar paired with a equally simple amp for a raw, pure 50’s Fender tone!

For more information about the guitar and amp, please check out:

Something about the way an Esquire pick guard looks without that neck pickup. Dope.

Any-one that got to get that Guitar and amp for Christmas must be a very lucky lucky person. Should see what I got, not complaining but

FINALLY! Someone who gets it! The Fender Bridge covers may have been uncomfortable for some players, but they still had a PURPOSE. They enhanced the magnetic field in a subtle way, tweaking the tone. They also provided a bit of shielding for the pickup, reducing the mound of hum and interference. Too many players just throw the cover off like it's meaningless and play without giving it a second thought.

yep, that guitar is perfection. no wonder the original owner never sold it in his lifetime! I bet he was like "bury this guitar with me!" and the family was like "but dad...it's just a plank of wood."

Lovely! Wish we could have heard more. Do another video! Lol. I can't afford that so I build my own and it sings!

Cool guitar. I am not much for vintage Fenders but it is cool. I did have an old Silvertone tube amp that had that "sound" but eventually I got a blackface Vibrolux. I always wanted the really fat twin sound but they were just too loud. I had a 100 watt Plush Bass amp that had a 2 - 15 cab. It was huge but really had excellent fat tone for lead guitar. I wound up cutting the cab in half. 1 - 15 moved enough air for the clubs I played. I changed the speaker to a full range JBL . Now I use Roland Blues Cubes. I have a couple of them. I also use Music Man Silhouette hard tail guitars. I have a 98 Ash body and a 02 Alder body. Both have maple fingerboards. My opinion is that they are the very best solid body guitars on the market. Unmatched tone and incredible versatility.

Would you please stop holding the guitars upside down, it's un-American.

Sounds great, demo was a little short though

What I noticed about that pairing of guitar and amp is a lack of top end brightness. Not sure why but teles are very bright guitars and the tweed should pronounce that as well.

Nice video! Could foi tell me the width of the nut and string spacing, please? Is it a V neck?

I always found the pick-up switch a little puzzling on the Esquire. Why not leave it out...one less thing in the way. Hell of a guitar though.
