Khan for Educators: Khan Academy's Mission

Khan Academy’s Mission is part of Khan for Educators, a free course for teachers to learn more about Khan Academy, the content and tools available for teachers and students, and best practices for implementing technology with students.

I would have loved having Khan Academy as a resource growing up. I remember many nights trying to understand how my Algebra or Pre-Calculus book arrived at an answer and being stuck with the work and getting increasingly more and more frustrated with myself for not understanding. Now teens can just go back and review the module again on Khan Academy and actually gain mastery over the material before moving on to the next concept. What a concept! That mastery of a module can not be overstated. I had many gaps in my knowledge when I got to more advanced Algebra because I hadn't truly mastered the material that came before. Instead, I was allowed to skate by with only understanding 80% to 90% of the material and that was a huge disservice to me later in my academic career. The more I look back on my public school education the more I understand that Khan Academy is doing things the intelligent way. I dream of a day when Khan Academy can offer a pre-K through post graduate education that's truly available to anyone, anywhere.
