I had a Gibson Les Paul studio. Frets were high and sharp, felt awful in my hands, so I sold it. I bought an Epi Les Paul Standard. Plays like a dream, fit and finish is excellent. I'm in the process of tearing it apart to darken the fretboard, replace the pickup covers and knobs. She's gonna be a fine guitar!

Dr. Epiphone is actually a pretty good guitar player. I've seen a few performances of his, and he's not that bad at all. He's primarily a rhythm player, and has a decent singing voice.

It's coil-splitting not coil-tapping. I have the trad-pro Epi with a probucker 3 in the bridge, Alnico in neck position. Got it new with case from a dude for $225. Instantly became my fav gtr. I even bought a set of the same pickups for my Explorer copy. The arpeggiated notes in verse 2 of Entre Nous (Rush) come alive with the coil-split. Coil-tap is when they send a wire out of the coil after only winding the coil 1/2way. Then they keep going & send another wire out with the strength of the full winding. You can then alter between the sound of a 1/2 wound coil & a fully wound coil. This is different than a coil-split which essentially disables one of the coils all together. There are some good videos that show the difference between coil-split & coil-tap.

Hey Dr. Epi Pen, maybe you can explain to us in between all your "A" chord shredding as to why the low E is farther from the edge of the neck than your high like the neck is not quite installed straight, or the bridge....look at 0:34. Look at the E-A-D strings, it looks like they're going slightly downhill out of the stop bar to the bridge.

They never disclose how thick the maple top is... so I assume it is a mahogany body with just a maple veneer.
