For JD Vance donut shop visit, a double order of cringe, supersized by Tim Walz

JD Vance had a surprisingly awkward time ordering two dozen donuts and chatting with the workers at a local shop, not only illustrating his basic weirdness but standing in cringey contrast to the naturally friendly Tim Walz at a Runza in Nebraska. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is evidently distressed by the surge in support for Kamala Harris and appears to be wearing out his welcome even on Fox. Tim Miller, writer-at-large for The Bulwark, discusses with Alex Wagner.

The best part is when JD tells the employee that he’s the VP candidate, and she says “ok”.
She was not impressed 🤣

"Some glazed...some sprinkle stuff...whatever makes sense."

He chooses donuts like he chooses his policies.

Walz started a conversation, Vance started an interrogation 😂

"The zoo has come to town" either he confused zoos with the circus or he thinks that zoos travel and I don't know which is dumber

He asked for "whatever makes sense"? Has anyone ever walked into a donut shop and asked for "whatever makes sense"?
Is he this weird with his wife and kids?

The woman who said “ok” in such a deadpan way is my hero. 😂 She was probably thinking, “so are you gonna buy some donuts, or…?”

The fact that he doesn't have the sense to say "Give me a dozen of your best sellers" shows how completely inept he is with normal day to day tasks.

He walks in and JD thinks they are going to gush over him and the woman says” I don’t want to be on camera” Priceless!

The craziest part is, HIS TEAM put the video out!!! This will go down as the worst ran campaign in American history.

How bad is his chat? Haha.."how long you worked here? " "Ok." Literally asked the same question 3 times in a row. This guy is a gronk with zero people skills. WEIRD.

He tried to show how he’s just a regular guy who goes to a donut shop but only proves how uncomfortable he is around working class people.

Vance sounded like he was interrogating the poor girl. Rapid fire questions. Who are you? What are you doing here? Show me your papers.

"Okay" is an inappropriate response. It's weird and awkward. It means, "I asked not because I care, but for a photo op. No matter what Vance does, his inner creepy comes oozing through. Ew.

I’m surprised he didn’t ask her why she wasn’t at home with her kids and doing the housework.

Vance comes in, announces who he is and starts interrogating, it's forced. I didnt see any smiles.
Walz walks in says we were in the neighborhood, talks about the place of business, shakes one guy's hand and then while continuing to chat shakes the other employees hands. No interrogating, no awkward pauses. I see lots of smiles, employees seem happy to interact.
Just my opinion, but Tim Walz appears to be a happy guy, JDVance not so much.
Warm fuzzy vs cold suit.

Vance has ZERO personality, negative ZERO people skills. Tim Walz is a man OF the people. The difference is glaring! Great comparison.

I do not trust a man who doesn't care what donuts end up in the box.

"When we selected this place..." said Vance. Uh, you're not supposed to publicly admit that this is just a cynical public-relations trip meant to improve your image. You're supposed to give the outward appearance that you really wanted a donut, and you happened to stop in, and that you enjoy interacting with people.

He's not awkward, and weird is a polite word to describe him. He's conceited. He doesn't have any personal skills, especially to those he thinks are below him. Listen to how he asks everyone, how long have you been working here. Does it matter?and there's no follow-up after that. He's behaving as if he's the new boss, meeting staff in different departments.

Walz is instant celebrity status, while still being down to earth, and Vance is the weird guy that you don’t want walking into your business with a camera crew.
