The Big Picture : India-UK Trade Tie

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday announced new UK-India trade and investment worth 1 billion pounds, including an investment of 240 million pounds by the Serum Institute of India for its vaccine business in Britain.

The announcement came ahead of his virtual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

The package includes over 533 million pounds of new Indian investment into the UK, in vital and growing sectors such as health and technology, British exports to India worth more than 446 million pounds, while 200 million pounds of these deals will support low carbon growth.

The investments include 240 million pounds to be pumped in by the Serum Institute for its vaccine business in Britain, and a new sales office.

According to the British Prime Minister’s Office, the investments form part of an Enhanced Trade Partnership.

On the Big Picture today, we will analyse the new one billion pound India-UK trade deal, how is it going to benefit both countries, and is it going to pave way for a future free trade deal

4. This tells message for China that we are not alone, We have a strong Supply Chain with many countries.
5. It is Also beneficial for British Economy which came out of EU.
6. FREE TRADE AGREEMENT ISSUES: Indian interests and British Interest are not same.
7. Indian student now can and study work only for 2 years in UK.
8. Now Indian students is not a road block.
9. Legal services: British people can now operate in India.
10. But same way IT people of India cant work in UK.
11. Both Countries supported to fight Pandemic.
12. This trade is more than FTA.
13. Partnership between US, UK, India is to build supply chain against rising China.
14. If to reduce dependence on China, we have to take alternatives.
15. UK invested 28 Billion dollars since 2000: This is very huge.
16. There is difference in Trade: UK gaining more, But still there is lot to ove forward.
17. I am realistic about the future relations.
18. China is regarded as a challenge to UK, But still they engage with China.
19. So we need to build strategically with both UK and CHINA.

2. Britain is trying to find a new image in Global Order.
3. Britain is partnering with Japan, China, Australia for better trade.

5. India is 2nd largest investor in Britain.
6. Even Germany, France come after India.
7. Flow of Professionals from India will be issue between two.
8. Exposure of Indians for British economy must be made.
9. There are Tariff and non tariff barriers that has to be reduced.
10. After BREXIT : UK needs India, So despite Pandemic he is coming to India.
11. Britain is not only looking itself as GLOBAL BRITAIN but also looking India as GLOBAL INDIA.
12. India has many stake in UK like: Pharma, Climate Change, Defense.
13. Earlier UK was gateway to EU.
14. India must take this opportunities.
15. India has strong attraction: Fastest growing economy, Huge market, work force.
16. There are sectors like health, Technology that builds collaboration.

THEY HAVE SET TARGET OF DOUBLING TRADE BY 2030.
