I live near Circleville, which is South of Columbus. I can be at the corner of Broad and High (traditionally considered the "center" of Ohio, although it's actually not geographically so) in thirty minutes, forty five on a busy day with traffic. Comparing the prices, cost of living, etc., it a puzzlement how property here in Pickaway County is so amazingly affordable. The number one problem with Columbus I think is: TRANSPORTATION. However, this isn't unlike most (and especially) second tier cities in the US, where the Car is King. While it's unfair to compare a first tier city like Toronto to a second tier city like Columbus, Toronto instituted their subway system when it was much smaller than Columbus is today. If Columbus had a proper subway at Broad and High, and light electric rail service to the outer beltway, it would greatly improve the quality of life here. I would argue that taxes would go down, considering the massive road upkeep and "improvements" which drive even more traffic. This would allow MORE money to be directed towards the schools, and even splitting that difference with more money in taxpayers pockets would be quite a win-win, indeed. I don't know why, but transportation is a very "political" thing here. Even the Greyhound bus station was in a high crime area, and the "wisdom" was to MOVE THE BUS STATION FURTHER AWAY TO AN EVEN HIGHER CRIME AREA!😅 So? The individual "pieces" of transportation don't "fit together" in a logical way. Why there isn't a bus terminal AT THE AIRPORT like you always find in Canada? How do you go FROM the airport, TO say, nearby Chillicothe? I guess you Taxi or Uber to the high crime Bus station to get there if you don't own a car??? 😅 All the Best! 73 DE W8LV BILL
