I’ve been gardening since the 1970s and started using drip tape in 2004 and I can say without a doubt that using drip tape has been the biggest game changer over those years. The hours and money saved for the home gardener is substantial. There is the initial investment but the tape can last several growing seasons. There are no moving parts, so no constant tinkering with sprinkler heads. You install it and forget it. Since it puts the water at the root zone the same installation works for short crops like leaf lettuce and tall crops like corn. Since you are not broadcasting water across the whole garden plot, there is less disease and weed pressure due to irrigation. It doesn’t totally eliminate the need for overhead watering but I would guesstimate it reduces it by over 90%.

working on getting my garden plowed now. I need 30-50, 000 feet of drip tape. dripper spacing every 4 inch .45 gal per hour or something like this. my run's are 300' long and 225 row's what would it cost for a system? Thank you
