There are different methods to use for teaching kids how to multiply and every single one of them might be more interesting than the other, the choice will always go to the kid according to which one suits him/her the most. Arrays is one of the methods for multiplication which this video is bringing for parents homeschooling their kids.

The things that could be used while teaching the kids maths could be all about the tools found at home and things that could be found with a really perfect price, so don't worry about the things you will need to use for your kids. Arrays is one of the multiplication lessons which Michelle used coasters and stickers for and which she believed that kids will easily love for these things they will play with.

The whole idea behind arrays is helping the kids to multiply in front of their own eyes in addition to keeping that multiplication thing in their minds because this will help in making the process easier for them at the end, to see what they are going to deal with and solve. This will also depend on the age of the kid because if he is still in the beginning of learning math then doing a mathematical equation in mind would be hard and thus having something in front of them to depend on will be always needed.

The arrays method is applied through using the shape which the kids will choose - you could even do it from paper all by your own - they will place the first number in their multiplication equation in columns under one another and then beside these columns will place the other number in the equation in rows. At the end, the kids could actually count the shapes they will end up having in order to get the final answer for the equation they are dealing with.

The same math game could be played but with using stickers instead which the kids could stick on a piece of paper, also in the same way, columns and rows and then eventually counting the total number of the stickers they have. Kids always love to stick things and they love to choose the colors, place them in order and do things related to this same way of thinking, so they will most probably love to learn how to multiply through using this math game or method.

Always choose what will best suit your child, sometimes you have to try all the methods while homeschooling them and let them choose the one they consider the most interesting and easiest for them; that of course might mostly be with those methods used with paper because playing math games might not be something for them to choose when it comes to school because these games will not be with them everywhere.

Math in general is easier to teach for the kids than English for example, because you could use your fingers, tools around you, you could use a pen and a paper, etc. and thus you make it all appear much easier for the kids to learn and much easier for them to apply these mathematical techniques on their everyday life.
