About:
Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the show is set amongst a larger- than-life junkyard playground and is alive with our favourite feline characters including Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Skimbleshanks.

The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

I remember watching this version as a kid. Didn’t understand much English then, especially in song form, but still managed to capture the personality of every character and distinguish them all easily. Saw the movie version yesterday, being a fluent English speaker now - and couldn’t tell anyone apart except for like 5 main characters. The designs for stage production just work soooo much better.

After watching this version dozens of times and seeing the performance live several times; this is the BEST movie version. No disrespect for the actors that tried to portray the characters but the voices for this version give me the chills! Broadway Brilliance!!

I randomly had the lyrics to this song in my head and I haven’t listened to the musical in a while—immediately, I kid you not, chills all over. They stayed throughout almost the entire half of the song. God, this is a masterpiece.

What I love about cats is the understated subtleties in it. Relating humans to cats and depicting human nature in feline form. It also seems to be a celebration of culture, especially how much of the story is told through dance, as seen with Victoria, the white cat. It's just a work of art, beautiful and like nothing I've ever seen or heard

When the CATS trailer came out, I got curious about the musical it was based off of. So I decided to check it out and I found myself here. I got swept away by the music and the dance and everything, I don't think I've ever fallen in love so quickly with a musical. I actually forgot the 2019 movie was coming out until last week lol
