Hands-On: LG G8 ThinQ Review

Показать описание
LG unveiled the G8 ThinQ smartphone at MWC 2019 in Barcelona today. The LG G8 is a game changer of sorts because it features gesture controls that let you control the phone without touching it. More impressive is the integration of a speaker driver into the screen making the entire screen a speaker.

The 6.1 inch oled QHD+ screen with HDR capabilities features a notch at the top making space for the Z Camera which enables gesture control and face unlock. On top of that it will be able to recognize the veins in your hand and use that to secure the device.

*TL;DR: LG ROCKS*

Honestly, in my opinion LG is the best smartphone brand right now (even though OnePlus gets close). Here's why:
- Their dual-camera-setup is by far the one that makes the most sense, having a super wide angle lense that can capture really impressive shots instead of some weird extra depth-camera for portrait mode (yes, I know that the S10 and others feature a super wide angle lense as well, but LG kind of invented it back when they launched the G5)
- THEY KEEP THE HEADPHONE JACK, THANK YOU SO MUCH LG <3 (props to Samsung as well though)
- The new hand gesture controls could really come in handy in everyday use (e.g. looking at a recipe while cooking). Finally a feature that doesn't only look good on paper but is actually useful
- Their notch is not too bad, it doesn't take up more vertical space than the notification bar would anyway
- LG's phones are slightly less expensive than for example Samsung's, AND they drop significantly in price within a few months after launch
- Their UI is not too bad, it looks a lot more clean and "grown-up" than for example Samsungs kindergarten-skin (that's personal preference though)
- Their phones last longer than a year! (Yeah, I know, it is sad that we can't expect that these days, but still...) I still have the G6 and it is by far the best aging phone I've ever owned, it shows little to no performance decrease over time!

Why do these guys not have a higher market share??? Anyway, keep it up LG

My LG G6 is the best phone I ever had, I tried iPhone 7 for the first time years ago and I regret it rapidly, LG phones are just perfect for me

Best preview on this phone so far.
Other previewers did not take the time to test the features and just dismissed the entire phone and disrespected it because it was not apple or samsung or they did not have the time.

that hand scan and the gestures are useful for when your phone is on the table and instead of picking it up for fingerprint scanner just show your hand. It's not that fast but its good to have

Oh look a manufacturer that is doing something different, let me just complain that it's not like an iPhone and a Samsung.

Then later on whine why all phones look the same.

It will probably cost 800-900 € and about 100-150 cheaper than the V50 I bet. that's the problem with LG. Aside from that, this phone looks really good, with great cameras, well-rounded and with a 3500mAh battery, it comes closer to modern flagships. But regardless of that, I bet it still has good battery life. I owned a V30 and now own a V35 and with the battery on that I could do around 5-8 hours of Screen-On-Time on the daily.
Then there's the little quirks of the UI. It's funny how I ended up loving the UIs that everyone hates/dislikes the most. To me LG UX and EMUI are some of the most practical, if not the most practical, user interfaces out there.

LG is the real underdog compared to Apple and Samsung. I am proud to use LG. Stop being sheep and lead your own way. LG has done this with touchless technology.

I've had an LG G2 for a long time, but been having trouble with the short battery life and it turning off for no apparent reason lately, so I just upgraded to this phone. Can't wait to get it!

I'm getting this over the Galaxy S10. I have the S8 plus but I've never liked it. Loved my old LG V30

galaxy s10 is great, but i can 100% see the hand ID becoming even more useful. air gestures were actually a thing since the s6 series (or somewhere around there, i had it one my s6 active believe it or not, i could scroll through screen by swiping up or down or across "pages" etc...) so im sure with this level of tech, you will be able to control far more, far easier. I love LG phones.
