I think we’re going to see the natural scaling down of the eSports industry. Basically, all of the teams that were never going to survive in the first place are going to tank, and only the popular ones with strong fanbases are going to stay afloat. Such as 100T, Optic, Cloud9, Sentinels, TSM etc. Unfortunately, to stay afloat in eSports you need a strong fanbase. And although the Guard was popular in some regards, how many fans did they actually have? Compared to the orgs I just mentioned where they sell a lot of merch, and other products. We’re probably going to get to a point where eSports is going to be quality over quantity. Rather than a bunch of teams, it’ll be the same well-known, popular teams across 3-4 game titles.
