Drivers have given more than one billion Lyft rides within the last decade. That's a whole lotta pickups, drop-offs, conversations, and connections made. As we get ready to kick off a new decade, we asked drivers to share their favorite moments from all those rides.

Working Coachella Fest, 2017, received a p/u request, accepted and immediately received a call from passenger. A young man w/an obvious agitated voice said “I’m at Coachella, are you going to pick me up? I’ve had 4 other drivers cancel and want to make sure you’re going to pick me up.” I said “when I accept a request I do everything I can to make sure I pickup the passenger.” Then informed him I was at least 20 minutes away and would be there asap. He said ok and his cellphone was low, I told him get off the phone & when I’m arriving I’ll text him but to shut off everything on his phone to save power. When I arrived near the area I realized he was in an area no one was allowed to drive. I texted him and told him the scenario and he would need to walk to an area where cars are allowed. He said he’d try and get directions and let me know. I couldn’t say I was waiting for the passenger, as I wasn’t near enough to the pickup so I spoke to a police officer and asked permission to park off the road and wait. This was normally forbidden, but he understood the situation and directed me where I could wait. It ultimately took the passenger and his girlfriend 35 minutes to walk to where I was waiting. I knew I wouldn’t be paid but it was now after 3 AM and I wanted to make sure the passengers got “home” safely. Once in the car I gave them something to drink and towelettes as it was hot & they were dehydrated. The drive was only about 8 miles and though the fare wasn’t much, I call Lyft and explained the situation, the rep was kind enough to to add $5 to my pay and asked if I wanted to know what the passenger said in his comments? I thought oh no a complaint, nope, far from it...he wrote in and said, “Not all heroes wear capes”. What a wonderful statement, it was then I knew, I made a difference and was appreciative to be there for them. Yes he did give a handsome tip, but even if he didn’t, I was so happy to be there and helped an individual who was out of area and abandoned by others, lost and frustrated. It was well worth all the time and effort with those 5 little words!

Yes. I loved the share from the driver about how much one person in an ordinary job can do to impact others in a positive way ! The ordinary care and kindness of a bus driver "just doing his job" kept a dear friend of mine from commiting suicide simply because he smiled and gave respect and kindness and renewed hope SIMPLY BY being there doing an ordinary job with a beautiful kind heart and attitude. True story. Everyone can make a life altering difference in the lives of others wherever they are. " Bloom where you are planted".

My memorable moment is when the deprecation on my car was more than I made for that year (not including gas, insurance, and hitting that one $300 pot hole).

I never picked up anyone famous that I'm aware of but I had more than a few drunks and one got out and immediately vomited in a parking lot. I had one lady invite me up to her apartment which I politely declined. I picked up 4 gay drunk guys and took them to the next' party spot'. My best rider is a prostitute. she is truly interesting. I've had people who scared me to people to people who are now friends.

Ok, here's what it comes down to. Aside from the unbelievably long hours you will be forced to work, to make it a worthwhile job(12-15 hours per day).. this job is basically your ability to endure harassment. Harassment which you will recieve no support for. Think about that(especially ladies). You will be incessantly harassed by passengers and other drivers, and you will be forced to bite your tongue, and take it, day after day. Believe it. I have about 30k trips in and understand this process from the inside out. Lyft's ineptitude as an employer is matched only by their laziness and lack of integrity and organization. Imagine having a legitimate complaint about a passenger only to have them either completely ignore your request for support, or at best some pre-written generic response that doesn't in any way address your problem. You are worthless cattle to them.

Lyft should have Lyft Errand where you can get a private ride that can have multiple stops. I tried giving this idea to Uber but they don’t have a YouTube channel like Lyft.
