Carolina rig is pretty great for river fishing, too. One of my faves for my local moving waters. I like to use a heavier weight and a floaty bait and let the river do the work for me.

usually, I put on a glass bead and a disc for noise... I leave a few inches between the bobber stop and the weights. This gives you the abliltity to make some good noise. When are the Googan's releasing their line of tungsten and those mini frogs? I can't wait!

I have never fished a Carolina rig but want to. I was told that you need a bead to help the weight from cutting the line against the swivel. Is this true?

So, I'm completely new to the Carolina rig. I usually use a 7' to 7' 5"med-heavy to t rig with, should I use the same or bump up to a bigger heavier rod?
