I have IBS and was drinking protein shakes and having terrible intestinal pain. My doctor told me that carrageenan has been linked to colon cancer. I came home and looked at my shakes and to my surprise all four different brands I was drinking had it in it. People need to be aware of this and keep it out of their pets food and theirs as well. I am so glad this is being discussed.

Yeah my daughter checks every single can or packet of food that comes into the house to make sure there is no carrageenan. Once I accidentally bought few cans of the stuff while waiting for online shipment to arrive and she threw it out. Not only does it cause cancer in animals but people too. I won't touch the stuff, nor will I have it in any food in my house. I'm glad you brought that up, I don't feel like people are aware👌

Also, the white lining in pet food cans has been linked to hyperthyroidism. My last cat had that, and I got that lining info from her vet.

I’ve been avoiding it for years for myself and pets because it upsets my stomach. It’s hard but not impossible to find pet food without it. People food too

One of the things missing in cats with cancer is a focus on pain management, with actual medication that works on pain receptors, not meloxicam that destroys their kidneys and stomach, and palliative care. Our kitty lived 300 more days without pain, we thought of everything to make her life easy and stress free. Feline Lung Digit Syndrome is not treatable. We were lucky. Many vets and doctors are freaked out by pain medicine and settle for “substitute” meds that don’t work and have horrible side effects, leading to organ failure and sarcopenia. By trying to save everyone from addiction, the people who won’t take personal responsibility and exercise self discipline, they’ve abandoned good people and animals to suffer when it’s not their fault. They need to do the right thing. If people are going to idiots, so be it. Not the doctors fault, they tell people what to take.

it never ceases to amaze me that humans will read the ingredients on the back of a cereal box but they can't be bothered to read the ingredients on the back of a pet food bag or can! I've saved so much money by reading the back of the bag or the can. I've learned that just because the food is high in price doesn't mean the ingredients or any better. this is why I moved my pets to the barf diet(bones and raw food diet). I literally had this diet bring a 14 year old Great Pyrenees back from death's door. she showed up at my home and I could see she had severe dysplasia and arthritis and what looks to be a previous injury to her spine. her owners lived a little over a mile up the road and came back to get her three or four times before they finally gave up and let her stay. she would hobble herbig crippled but all that way to come back here. she also was severely anemic when I would pull down her lower lid it was almost white where it should be pink. so I started her on Bones and raw food. I started her off with raw ground beef and I watch this dog completely change. I thought she was going to be a hospice case of a few weeks at the very most. She gave me two and a half years of love and joy all due to a huge dietary change. I no longer feed processed food to my animals and I never will again

Carrageenan (E-407) is very inflammatory and makes my psoriasis pop. I heard doctors also use this to get an inflammatory reaction.
