On a Scale of Awesome to Space Dragons how much did you love Shang-Chi?
Nonsense answers only please!

Why are we still calling Wenwu the Mandarin? He doesn’t like being called a chicken dish

Trevor was likely in isolation with Morris for a very long time so it’s possible he just learned what each mumble/body language meant. It’s a stretch for sure but it’s probably the only reasoning behind it other than the “it’s magic” explanation

I’ve been so excited to see your Shang Chi content!

Only thing I’d note is that Shang Chi’s name can’t be just cut into “Shang” because in Mandarin the whole name is Shang Chi (it’s like calling Mary-Kate Olsen just “Mary Olsen”). Unless you’re mentioning him by his English name Shaun, Shang Chi is his whole first name.

2:34 he's not the mandarin, he never calls himself the mandarin, killian made that name up, shang's dad makes a joke about it when Shang Chi returns to the compound

Apparently the character of Fin Fang Foom is controversial in China and seen as offensive- so yeah, I doubt there gonna be calling him that if he does make an appearance in the sequel.

Correction: Ta Lo isn’t just a village, it’s an entire realm parallel to the MCU.

But also what a theory!!

considering that the ten rings originated from the space dragons, they most likely would fit on thier finger claw thingies, but are too big for human fingers, which makes more sense now to have them as bracelets

I'm surprised you didn't use the argument that the "rings" are clearly wayy too big to be rings, they're clearly bracelet sized on any human. But on a giant space dragon however, they could probably be appropriately sized rings to be put on fingers and not arms.

Great video. Two small nitpicks:
1) His name is not Shang. It's Shang-Chi. Anytime you hear otherwise (apart from the exchange on the plane), he is being called Shaun, not Shang.
2) The character is called Wenwu, not the Mandarin. The Mandarin was a name made up by Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3 and Wenwu even calls back to it in the movie saying that it's not his name. He's been called a number of other things over the years but the Mandarin does not refer to him

I feel bad for that poor dragon. He just trying to take a nap and some rando comes along and steals his rings

Ben getting excited about space dragons is exactly what I needed in my life 😂

"What's better than a Space Dragon? Nothing! NOTHING is better than a Space Dragon."
I can find no flaw in this argument.

Ben: Shang Chi is a dragon... kind of.
Me: pfft no way, ridiculous.

10 mins later...
Me: Oh my god of course he's half space dragon! It makes so much sense!

Shangchi cannot be shortened to just 'Shang' as a nickname. Nicknames don't work like that in Chinese.
And as a general note, can we please stop defaulting to referring to Wenwu as 'the Mandarin' and Xialing as 'the sister'. The names may be unfamiliar to an English speaking tongue, especially names like Xialing, but we should give proper names the proper respect and try with appropriate pronunciation as well. Genuine efforts to pronunce names are appreciated.
Otherwise, thanks for the vid.

Another theory: the rings use mystic/ cosmic magic, same as dr strange, sorcerers AND recently revealed Eternals (as shown in trailer - all of them use the same yellow/orange magic as the rings and sorcerers). Moreover there was 10 eternals so WHAT IF it was planned for each to have 1 ring? And what if the crater was left by them because as we know they are ancient as well? Would really nicely tie them into MCU and explain why Shang Chi had to come out before the Eternals in order to introduce them to some extent!

This video hit every point except one (4:15) It's the first time his father's power (the 10 rings) and his mother's power (the dance move that allowed her to take the rings) were combined.
That I believe is why Wong could hear Shang using the rings.
Remember his father up till then was always using the rings like Whiplash from Iron Man 2 whipping them around. Shang like his mother could spin them around and mid-air and combine them to send right back at his enemies. Definitely a whole another level.

When shangs mom dances with his dad in the beginning she takes the rings and they turn gold too

ok just one point bc i'm only 3mins in, but have seen that you should be saying his full name "Shang-Chi" or "Shangqi" bc that's not a middle name or a last name, it's one whole name and to reduce it to just Shang changes the meaning... otherwise just call him Shaun

I think that since they mentioned specifically that it wasn't Vibranium, that the Rings could also be a set up for Adamantium, basically just to show that it exists, and is extraordinarily powerful. Also Adamantium because Wolverine is such a popular character and they need to get both Logan and Deadpool into the MCU somehow.
